Pamela Ki Mai Chen is a judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She joined the court in 2013 after a nomination from President Barack Obama. Prior to joining the court, she was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York.[1][2]
Education
Chen attended University of Michigan, earning her B.A. in 1983. She went on to earn her J.D. in 1986 from Georgetown University Law Center.[3]

Chen was nominated on August 2, 2012, by Barack Obama to a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York vacated by Raymond Dearie.[1] Obama commented on the nomination, stating, “I am proud to nominate this outstanding candidate to serve on the United States District Court bench. Pamela Chen has a long and distinguished record of service, and I am confident she will serve on the federal bench with distinction.”[3]
She was rated Unanimously Qualified by the American Bar Association. She had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 19, 2012.[4]
On March 4, 2013, the United States Senate confirmed Pamela Ki Mai Chen to an Article III post for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York with voice vote.[5]
