Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Florida

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

On July 22, 2020, Fine announced that he tested positive for coronavirus.[7]

Florida Commission on Ethics investigates Rep. Fine

Florida’s Commission on Ethics announced in May 2024 that they would re-evaluate Fine's charges.[8]

On April 26, 2023, the Florida Commission on Ethics “found probable cause to believe that Rep. Fine abused his position to obtain a disproportionate benefit and that he misused his position by threatening to take away State funding over a personal feud with a Brevard County School Board member.”[9]

“It is clear to me that the kangaroo court that is the Florida Commission on Ethics has a personal axe to grind with myself and my politics,” Rep. Fine said in response to the allegations.

On July 26, 2024, the Commission dismissed the case due to a lack of legal sufficiency. They made no determinations on the accuracy or factuality of the allegations.[10][11]
