|Angie Reyes English is a mother and grandmother, Hawthorne City Councilwoman, and experienced leader who has served in senior roles in the State Assembly and Senate, and the office of Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren D. Price.
A daughter of immigrant farmworkers, Angie learned from a young age the importance of honesty, integrity, and hard work. She also struggled as a young mother, experiencing homelessness for two years. Angie understands that California’s families deserve better.
First elected in 2005 as Hawthorne City Clerk, Angie worked to ensure transparency and managed key documents for the city. Angie earned the trust of our community again and was elected in 2009 to the Hawthorne City Council and returned to serve again in 2020. As City Councilwoman, Angie has worked tirelessly to strengthen neighborhood safety, create quality local jobs, and improve the health and wellbeing of families.
- Our families deserve better. For over 14 years, I've gotten results for our community as a Hawthorne city councilwoman and city clerk, senior district representative for the California State Assembly and Senate, and senior field deputy for Los Angeles Councilmember Curren D. Price. I’m ready to fight for you in the State Assembly.
- My roots are humble. Decades ago, I endured homelessness for two years as a young mother. But I persevered. I know firsthand the challenges facing families, and I'm a proven leader who has delivered on public safety, job creation, and homelessness as Hawthorne City Councilwoman. I'm prepared to fight for you in Sacramento, and that's why I'm the only candidate endorsed by LA City Councilmember Curren D. Price and the Hawthorne Police Officers Association, among other elected leaders.
- I raised my three daughters in the city of Hawthorne. Today I’m a proud grandmother. My passion for public service began as president of the PTA for my children’s school. I will always be a leader who puts our community first, and I would be honored to represent you and the everyday people who make up the 62nd/61st Assembly Districts.
