As the daughter of an electrician and bookkeeper, Pilar Schiavo knows how tough it can be for families struggling to make ends meet. That’s why she dedicated her career to uplifting working families like hers. Pilar worked with the California Nurses Association to deploy nurses to California fires, hurricane responses, and to a COVID-19 vaccination site in South Los Angeles, always sending help where it’s needed most. Her work also helped provide guaranteed healthcare for more than one million people here in California. As a single mom and small business owner, Pilar balances raising her daughters and participating in the PTA with her work and community leadership as co-founder of an organization that provides housing and more than 40,000 meals to people experiencing homelessness. Pilar is the leader we need to deliver for hardworking families who are struggling -- just like her.

  • Cut taxes for small businesses, working people, seniors, and veterans—while making sure that big corporations and billionaires pay their fair share
  • Guarantee quality healthcare for every Californian
  • Help people stay in their homes and find housing they can afford

Health care, Labor, Homelessness, housing, Climate and Environmental justice

I am an organizer and coalition builder through and through. I know what it takes to pass a bill and I'm ready to take on that challenge on day one.

Yes, absolutely. Having worked for twenty years in the labor movement as an organizer I know what it means to build a coalition. This kind of work requires compromise.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in California

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
