  • 2 ½ cups apples - peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup butter, softened

Directions

  1. Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.

  2. Arrange apple slices evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  3. Sift flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt into a bowl.

  4. Cut in butter using a pastry blender, or 2 knives, until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal; sprinkle over apples.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven until topping is golden, 40 to 45 minutes.
