Lore[]

Not always born in the crucible of creation, sometimes Gods ascend by tragic happenstance. Such is the tale of Chang'e, Goddess of the Moon.

Among the immortals that lived in the Heavens, Chang'e was the most elegant dancer, like a dove on windswept currents. She drew the affection of the hero archer, Hou Yi, and the two were soon married. Everything was perfect.

Yet, beneath the Heavens, all was not well. Ten suns, the ten children of the Jade Emperor, rose to scorch the earth and boil the seas. Brave Hou Yi, bow in hand, shot nine from the sky, sparing only one. Though the world was saved, the Jade Emperor was furious his children were killed. In punishment, Hou Yi and Chang'e were made mortal.

Chang'e grew melancholy and danced no more. To restore their status in the Heavens, Hou Yi found the Elixir of Immortality, but thieves came to steal it while he was hunting. Chang'e struggled to hide the Elixir, but, in the end, was forced to drink it. Too much for one person, the Elixir gave her immortality, but it also swept her into the sky.

Since then, Chang'e has lived on the moon, forbidden to see her husband, a Jade Rabbit her only companion. Yet, the Earth is once again in peril, and Chang'e finds herself upon the mortal surface. Perhaps, this is a second chance. If only she can save the world without angering the Jade Emperor, she can at last reunite with her husband.

Passive - Jade Rabbit

	Chang'e can purchase/sell items from anywhere and her Jade Rabbit will fetch them. Only one item can be purchased/sold in this way at a time. Chang'e also gains +40% movement speed with no backpedal penalty when using her dances and her abilities apply a debuff to enemies, causing them to take 3% extra damage from her abilities within the next 5s, stacking 3 times.		Notes: The rabbit has 5x Chang'e's Movement Speed. The rabbit can't fetch items in the Assault game mode. The debuff stacks up to 9% increased damage from abilities.

Chang'e is Hou Yi's wife. As imagery goes, Hou Yi came to represent the sun, while Chang'e represents the moon.
Chang'e along with Gilgamesh and Ratatoskr are the only gods who can obtain certain items from anywhere on the current game mode being played.
Chang'e herself doesn't speak. Instead, her Jade Rabbit talks in most of her voice lines.
The actress who voiced Chang'e, Trina Nishimura, also voiced Renegade Awilix and BunBun Nox.
One of Chang'e's introduction quotes, ▶️"You can dance if you want to!", is a reference to the 80's song The Safety Dance by the Canadian band Men Without Hats.
One of Chang'e's jokes, ▶️"The hare always wins! ..Right guys?" is a reference to the children's fable The Tortoise and the Hare.
One of Chang'e's taunts, ▶️"What's that?! You keep a rabbit's foot for good luck?! Well that's just sick! Take a lesson from my girl, she keeps the whole rabbit!" is a reference to the myth of the Rabbit's Foot.
Both Chang'e's taunt, ▶️"I'm the most foul, cruel and bad tempered rodent you've ever set eyes upon! ..Oh, her? Yes, well.. she is with me." and the joke ▶️"I'm not Behind the rabbit, I Am the rabbit!" are references to the 1975's comedy movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
When Chang'e's jade rabbit is away from her while fetching an item, it sometimes says ▶️"..I knew I should have taken that left at Albuquerque..". This is a reference to one of Bugs Bunny's catchphrases.
When Chang'e's jade rabbit delivers an item, it sometimes says ▶️"I'm late, I'm late! ..For an extremely critical appointment.". This is a reference to the famous fairy tale Alice in Wonderland.
