Lore

The world is full of omens, for those prepared to see. But some are easier to discern than others. Such is the case with the Bakekujira, the Ghost-Whale. Appearing as a great, skeletal whale, composed of bleached bone and an eerie aura, the Ghost-Whale haunts the world as a bringer of uncertain tidings and bad fortune. Or so the stories say.

To see the Bakekujira is to drown in hopelessness and despair. To witness its passing is to feel the cold clutch of fear on one’s heart, and to know that there are bad times ahead. Some believe that the Bakekujira is the soul of a whale slain by hunters, come back to seek revenge against those who killed it. Others believe it is a spirit of the sea, called forth as punishment for those who abuse the largesse of the ocean. Some few believe it is a servant of the cosmic balance, summoned to set right a world gone wrong.

Whether Bake Kujira is a ghost, or a devil, or something else entirely is unknown. All that is known is that where it goes, bad things follow. Accompanied by swarms of strange birds and shoals of hideous fish, the Ghost-Whale is not bound by the sea but can also swim through the sky, if that is where its course should take it.

No barrier can slow it, no witchery can divert it. Wherever it goes, it brings death and disease with it. Those who are unfortunate enough to witness its passing are marked by its curse and subject to all manner of disasters to come.

Some few mortals worship the Ghost-Whale, in hopes of propitiating it and preventing the doom it foretells. Others seek the aid of the gods in breaking the curse of the Bake Kujira. But what can even the gods do against such a being?

Only time will tell.

Abilities

Passive - Curse of the Ghost Whale Enemies that hard Crowd Control Bake Kujira are Cursed. If an enemy is already Cursed, the duration is refreshed and increases in strength. Bake Kujira converts Protections from Items and Abilities into Basic Attack damage and converts Attack Speed into Haste. His Basic Attacks do not benefit from Attack Speed and proc item hit effects for 50% damage and healing. Notes:   Bake Kujira's Basic Attacks benefit from only 33% Lifesteal and cannot go through walls.   Haste stacks up to 100% Attack Speed Conversion.   Curse has a duration of 5s.   Protections Conversion: 25%   Attack Speed Conversion: 1% Haste per 1% Attack Speed from Items or Abilities   Curse Application Cooldown: 10s   Ability Type: Debuff   Cooldown: 10s Ability Video 1st Ability - Rough Waters Bake Kujira imbues himself with cursed energy. When activated, Bake Kujira gains increased Basic Attack range and reduced Movement Penalty when Basic Attacking. He also gains a stack of Protections for each enemy hit with his Basic Attacks. Notes:   Stacks up to 8/16/24/32/40 Protections.   Can also stack when hitting towers and phoenixes.   Basic Attack Radius: 20   Protections per stack: 1/2/3/4/5   Max Stacks: 8   Movement Penalty Reduction: 50%   Duration: 5s   Ability Type: Buff   Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana   Cooldown: 14/13.5/13/12.5/12s Ability Video 2nd Ability - Sonic Wave Bake Kujira sends out a wave of cursed energy. Enemies hit are slowed, damaged, and Cursed. Enemies that are Cursed deal reduced damage for 6s. If a Cursed enemy is hit by this ability, the slow is doubled and their Curse becomes amplified. Bake Kujira’s Basic Attacks reduce this ability’s Cooldown by 1s when hitting an enemy god and 0.1s when hitting an enemy minion. Notes:   Cursed enemies are slowed by 30%.   The CDR can proc multiple times when hitting more than one enemy while on cooldown.   Damage: 70/120/170/220/270 (+30% of your Magical Power)   Curse Damage Reduction: 6/7/8/9/10%   Amplified Curse Damage Reduction: 12/14/16/18/20%   Slow: 15% for 2s   Ability Type: Cone, Damage   Range: 40   Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 mana   Cooldown: 10s Ability Video 3rd Ability - Twisting Dive Bake Kujira gathers power then dashes straight ahead, damaging enemies around him. Enemies hit by the dash take additional damage and are stunned and pushed to Bake Kujira’s ending location. Bake Kujira is immune to Knockback while using this ability. Notes:   The splash has a radius of 20.   Can deal up to 115/190/265/340/415 (+50% of your Magical Power) damage.   Splash Damage: 55/85/115/145/175 (+20% of your Magical Power)   Dash Damage: 60/105/150/195/240 (+30% of your Magical Power)   Stun: 1.5s   Ability Type: Line, Dash, Damage   Range: 40   Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana   Cooldown: 14s Ability Video Ultimate - Yokai's Lament Bake Kujira begins to sing for the next 5s, gaining bonus Basic Attack Damage, increasing his Basic Attack range to 20, and distorting a large area around himself with the sound waves. Enemies between 20 and 50 units away gain stacks of time dilation every 0.25s, causing all of their actions to happen more slowly. Leaving the time dilation area will cause the stacks of time dilation to decay over time. Enemies within 20 units are not time dilated, but instead take increased damage. • Bake Kujira was the final god released in 2023.
• Bake Kujira was the final god released in Season 10.
• Bake Kujira is the first god who's melee basic attacks hit all enemies in a radius around him, not just in front.
• Bake Kujira along with Maui are currently the only gods who have AoE melee basic attacks.
• Bake Kujira along with King Arthur and Jormungandr are currently the only gods to have a fixed fire rate with their basic attacks, which means they cannot be affected by attack speed increase/reduction in any form.
• Bake Kujira along with Tsukuyomi are currently the only Japanese gods to not include any Japanese voicelines in their default voice packs.
• There is some debate about whether or not Bake Kujira is a genuine mythological figure - there are no known historical accounts or depictions of it outside of one story related by manga artist Shigeru Mizuki.
