Erlang Shen is one of the playable Gods in SMITE.

Lore[]

Many are the legendary tales of Erlang Shen.

Hearing the riverlands surrounding his home were consumed by floods, he went to engineer new dams and canals. Yet the true source of the disaster proved to be an evil dragon. With seven companions, Erlang Shen ambushed the beast. Cowardly and quick the dragon slithered into the rapid river waters, but Erlang Shen captured it with a great chain and bound it beneath a shrine. Thus the floods subsided.

When Sun Wukong's troublesome antics drew the ire of the Jade Emperor, Erlang Shen faced the Monkey King on the battlefield. For every form Sun Wukong took, Erlang Shen transformed as well. Across sea and sky and land they battled. Thus was Sun Wukong sent fleeing for his life.

When the people were plagued by demons and monsters, Erlang Shen slaughtered them to keep his countrymen safe. Three-bladed spear in hand and hunting dog at his side, no evil could threaten the innocent or the Empire. Thus, Erlang came to be loved and worshipped.

A Goddess mother and a mere mortal father, he is of two worlds. He is both sage and a soldier, humble yet regal, his veins filled with the blood of men and the divine blood of his uncle, the Jade Emperor. Having risen above his forbidden origins, Erlang Shen has proven himself among the greatest of heroes in the Jade Empire. Perhaps that is why he now takes the field. No demon, nor dragon, nor even the Monkey King himself has stood against him and won. To save the people, to save the world, Erlang Shen will fight, and another legend will be born!

Passive - Howling Celestial Dog

	Each time Erlang Shen hits an enemy with a Basic Attack, his dog hits as well for 5% of his Basic Attack power and 2% of the target's max. health. The percentage damage only works against gods and minions.		Notes: The dog's attacks can also crit and don't proc item effects. If Erlang Shen hit multiple enemies with his 4th basic attack, the dog will hit the last enemy hit by the cleave.

1st Ability - Spot Weakness

	Erlang Shen opens his third eye and analyzes the enemy's strengths and weaknesses. When activated, Erlang Shen gains additional Physical Damage and Lifesteal on each strike. He also applies a stacking debuff to enemy gods, reducing their damage dealt to all sources. Stacks last 3s. If the buff effect has ended and the ability is on Cooldown, successful Basic Attacks reduce the Cooldown of this ability by 1s.		Notes: Applies up to 15/16.5/18/19.5/21% damage reduction to enemies hit. Empowered basic attacks also trigger item effects while active. The CDR can proc multiple times when hitting more than one enemy while on cooldown (4th basic attack only).

	Erlang Shen launches a spear that damages enemies on impact. Enemies in the dead center of the effect when it lands are Rooted in place.		Notes: Impact speed is based on distance, from instant at minimum range to .5s at max range. The center of the ability has a radius of 8.

3rd Ability - 72 Transformations

	Erlang Shen transforms into a Mink or Turtle and charges forward, becoming immune to knock ups and slows. Mink: Damages all enemies, stopping on first god hit and increasing Attack Speed and Movement Speed for 4s. Turtle: Knocks up enemy gods and gains a health shield that is boosted by 75% of your protections from items for 12s.		Notes: The dash speed of Mink Form is 200% of current movement speed while Turtle Form's is 175% of current movement speed. Has a targeter length of 80 which displays as turtle if used below 40 units and mink when above 40 units. The shield from turtle form doesn't protect from execute effects.

Molten Shogun

The original concept for this skin was created by the artist WolfDawg.

Before being altered to fit with Smite's artstyle, this skin originally was inspired by the game Hollow Knight.
He also made the original concept for Infantree Sylvanus.

The actor who voiced this skin, Armen Taylor, also voiced Prince of Darkness Hades.
This skin shares its theme with Volcanic Agni, Molten Destroyer Cthulhu, Molten He Bo, Molten Doom Kuzenbo and Igneous Terra.

Monster Trainer

Both this skin and default Erlang Shen were voiced by Brandon Mcinnis.
This skin makes several references to the Pokémon series.

Appearance wise, Erlang Shen looks like Red.
His dog could be a reference to the Pokémon Pikachu and/or Manectric.
In his intro animation, Erlang Shen takes off his hat and his dog comes out of it. This is a reference to the original title of Pokémon, Pocket Monsters.
When Erlang Shen enters combat, he flips his hat backward similar to Ash's iconic animation before he enters a battle.
The color scheme of his Turtle form is similar to Squirtle's.

The background of this skin's card art resembles The Great Wall of China.
