It was Grand, meeting Jodi's Family.
{Two, and Four Legged. <3 }
Sadly, Jodi, and John's other Farm, was nearly Leveled by The Derecho, in 2020.
THAT...has been Exhausting for them...trying to get it cleaned up.
They're Such Good Folks.
{Mr., and Mrs. Santa Claus, during the Holiday Season. They travel All Over, with Rudy, and Sleigh, visiting Children. <3 }
Then, we went to Supper, in Atkins, where Daughter, Liz...works.
{Jodi, and Liz...are also Pals. ; ) }
Jodi's Pal, Sue...met us there...we had a Wonderful Time!!
Bobby T's was Packed, for Card Draw, a Raffle, and our Table...did pretty Good!

I went outside to smoke...then, when coming back, inside...I saw a Family walking up to the door of Bobby T's.
The Dad, said...
"Oh...we'll never get a table...it's Packed!!"
The Couple had 3 small children, I...stepped up, held the door, and said...
"Oh Yes!!! We'll find Ya a Table!! My Daughter Bartends here, She'll take Good Care of Ya!!"
I walked inside...we all did some Shufflin', and they were Seated.

The Couple were Very Grateful, for our efforts.
{That 'Bar' Food...is Insane! Their Pizza, is OVER THE TOP!!}
Son in Law, Adam, was at the bar... he asked me if I knew who those Folk's were, that we'd helped get seated.
I, thought the Dad..looked kinda familiar, but, asked him who they were.

Turned out...he's a Dude, I've had a few go rounds with, concerning Fairfax.

{He didn't recognize me, either. }
So....
I went over and re-introduced myself.

The Couple...looked very stunned.

yeah, 'Fairfax', and their Shenanigans, have a Way of bringing out The Worst, in me.

It's too late.
Wrote a very...very....sad post, last night.
Deleted it, this morning.
There's enough sorrow, and sadness in this old world, without reading about it here.
A lot of things...'happened' yesterday...that tipped me over the edge, by the end of the day.
Haven't had a moment, to...grieve Scoutaroo.
Watching the Men...dig such a huge hole....to repair a waterline, yesterday...
did me in.
oh Lord.
When they came inside, to tell me the job was completed, I handed one of the Men...a handful of chocolates...
then...broke down in tears.
I felt so bad for the Man, he had no idea...what he was walking into.
This last month...has been so difficult.
oh my.
Had someone from the City...try, to reach out...to me....yesterday.
There's been a couple, from there...'trying'.
It's too late.
too...late.
They just need to leave me alone.
Keep away from me.
Their damage....is done.
It's irreparable.
I'm just....exhausted, on every single level.
Still...full of Fight, but...
so damned weary.
Too many backhoes..too many tears, for far too long.

Soulfulness...
Back in January, at The Anamosa Show...
Pal, Steph...brought in an Old...Old...Sofa.
I nearly Dropped when I saw it!!!
Oh My!!
Told Steph That Old Sofa was The Gnarliest, Most Soulful Sofa...I'd Ever Seen!
Told her how Much I Loved It!!!
{It dates from the 1870's, I'd guess <3 }
Steph said... "Well ya should, I bought it from you years ago!!"
Hahahahahaha!!!!
Oh My Gosh!!!
Steph said she'd bought it at one the Big Sales, here...
I, don't remember which one, those Sale Days, were INSANE!!
WOW!!
Steph used it all over the Country, as a Prop, at her Fabric Trade Shows!!
It's been Everywhere, from Iowa, to Huston, to....California.

The One Thing...that never waivers is my Love of Old.

That Old...Soulful Sofa, came Home with me, from Anamosa.

Set the JJ Booth around it, in Des Moines.
It was such an Anchor in the booth.
So Beautiful.
So Welcoming.

It's upholstery is partially deconstructed, exposing it's original tufting, and boar hair stuffing.
It's Indescribable.

When you touch it...there's a warmth that makes my heart swell.
Many others, felt that way too.

Many times, during the show...I'd turn around, and see Folks sitting on it.
{That doesn't happen in most booths.
Folks, seem to feel at ease in the Simply Iowa Booth.

I always encourage Folks to sit, and want Children to 'touch'...things that intrigue them.
Children...never break things, they really don't.
If something gets damaged, It's usually Me, that does it.

They Fell In Love With That Old Sofa!!!

Plopped right down, on it, and Made Themselves at Home.

The Girl on the right, was All Over That Old Sofa!!
She's a Litigation Attorney, in Des Moines.
She wanted it for her Office.
She, and her Sister... {left}...talked and talked...about that sofa.
When they took off, they said they had to do some thinking about The Sofa.
Sunday morning...they called me, to see if The Sofa was still available.
It was.

The Girl's came back...went over The Sofa, like Duck's on a June Bug!!
Hahahahaha!!!
Flipped it over, pondered, and thought.

They had spent the day prior getting ideas on what the cost would be to reupholster The Sofa.
Uh....oh.

Then, I sat down...with the Girls, and explained to them why, that would be a bad idea.

As I watched the Young Attorney, 'Love On'...that Old Sofa, I could see her 'Love of Old', 'Soulfulness'...as she ran her hands over the old Tufting, and Velvet.
: )
I brought up images of Victorian Sofas that were 'perfect', and reupholstered, on my phone.
Told the Girls...here's what's gonna happen, should you buy this, and have it re-done.
You'll drop it off, to be reupholstered, then...
go, pick it up...
write a Big Fat Check, for the work, and fabric...
and be Sick, when you see it, like Brand New.
Told them...what Drew them to The Old Sofa, was it's 'Soulfulness'.

would be All Gone, should it be re-done.
It was heartbreaking, because...she didn't think the Sofa would be well received at her Office, by others, in it's Original Soulfulness, tho...She agreed, I was right, That's EXACTLY...Why, She Loved It So.

The images of those that were 'perfect'...wasn't what she was after.
She didn't have a place for it in her Home, she...was Twisting, over The Sofa.
Told her...Some Day....she'll have her Own Firm, or...make Partner, and Have The Coolest Office Ever, because her Eye...is AMAZING!!!

It's a piece of Art.
She has an Artist's Eye.

This Girl.
Not sure I have the mind...quite yet,
to tell the JJ Stories, like I want to tell them.
So...exhausted, today.
Barely moved...I'm physically...drained.
Even more... drained,
emotionally.
As I was bundled up...in John's old recliner, with Miss. Peanut on my lap...most of the day, began thinking back...about when in my life, have I felt so incredibly worn out.
2014...when John died.
That's when.
I was so incredibly numb, when John suddenly left. All 'Hope'...was lost.
Then.. having to pour Everything I had in me, to take on the Massive Sale, in Davenport, I was under contract to do...two days after John left us.
If it wasn't for Jan, Mark, Lynn...Lea, Liz...and others, I...couldn't have survived it.
The cumulative damages...over the years...from this battle with the IDOT, and Fairfax...has taken it's toll.
The last few weeks, have truly....brought me to my knees.
{I try really hard, to not let Folks see that.
Business...is Business.
but....
let me tell ya, ; ) it's gettin' more, and more difficult to get up off of my knees.}

The shock, on The Gypsy Girl's face...made me very, very...sad.
but...
didn't surprise me.
I, know...I'm not 'that girl'...anymore.
Can't be.
Can't be a 'Warrior', and a Free, Creative... Spirit.
It's like Oil, and Water.
They don't mix.
I'm in a Fight for Our Lives.
Everything...we've worked our Lives...away for.
Our Home...and Livelihood.
Business...is Business.
Right is Right...
Wrong, is Wrong.
I have no regrets, about the JJ Booth.

It was 'Done'...The Very Best 'This Girl' could, and Gave It, All 'This Girl'... could, under these circumstances.
