Yukari was an ancient civilization that existed some time in the past few centuries. It was a small, independent city-state, surrounded by larger nations that it was constantly fighting off. It was eventually absorbed by one of it's neighbors, and due to the active warzone surrounding it's former location, much of the information about it has been lost.
Geography[]
Not much is known about Yukari's geography, but it was surrounded by enemy nations. The country contained a palace built out of stone, though it was destroyed; the kitchen, specifically, was destroyed in a fire. The ground was made of limestone, and as such trees didn't naturally grow.
Culture[]
Yukari had its own language and writing system, which was written using a phonogram alphabet. The language was discovered to be similar to another language from the same time period called Son Cruso (ソンクルーソ, Sonkurūso?), allowing it to be translated by Nico Robin and Koala. The oral language, meanwhile, is very similar to the language used by the World Government, allowing it to be translated by ear.
While the nation was independent, it did trade with World Government-affiliated countries.
History[]
Past[]
Yukari was an independent city-state that existed some time in the last few centuries. The country was constantly fighting off its larger, more aggressive neighboring countries, and was nearly always enveloped in an active warzone. Eventually, it was absorbed by one of its neighbors, and the country fell into ruin.
Due to the constant fighting in the surrounding area, most of the information about Yukari has been lost. Researchers can't safely study the ruins, and only general information about the country is known.
During the Timeskip[]
In the modern day, the location of the former country is still an active warzone. The Revolutionary Army has performed operations there at least once, recovering a number of ancient tablets and artifacts from the ruins, which were passed on to a team of archaeologists.
Trivia[]
- The nation's name, Yukari, translates to "eucalyptus" in English.
