Ascar, also known as Rathlóriel, was one of the seven rivers of Ossiriand, a region of eastern Beleriand.

The Ascar was one of the six tributaries of the great river Gelion. Beginning near Mount Dolmed, it flowed into Gelion near Sarn Athrad where the Dwarf-Road coming from Nogrod and Belegost ran along its banks.[1]

After the fall of Doriath, the remaining treasures of the Elven kingdom were placed in the deep depths of the river by Beren, Dior and the Laiquendi, and later became known as Rathlóriel, the Goldenbed.[2]
