The Golden Book, known as the Parma Kuluina in Quenya,[1] was a book about the early history of the Eldar in earlier versions of the legendarium.
History[]
The book was preserved in the city of Kortirion, on Tol Eressëa. It was used as source material by Pengolod, when he wrote the Quenta Silmarillion. When Ælfwine/Eriol took the Straight Road and arrived on Tol Eressëa he was allowed to read the Golden Book.[2][3][4] Then, he started the translation of its contents in English, but the work was completed by his son Heorrenda the Harper.[5]
