The VVitch

I guess it took me 3 times to rediscover how brilliant Robert Egger's directorial debut is. 3rd times the charm since this was the best time I've had with it. Similar to Hereditary - in more ways than one - The VVitch ultimately reflects turmoil against a family in which whatever option they have to get themselves out of such horror, nothing will work. Horror is coming, and will consume every aspect of this families life. And horror it does, this is one of the best horror films of the past 10 years, arguably the scariest. I found it appropriate to give it a watch since The Lighthouse tickets are in my pocket for this week, but I'm dreadfully glad I gave it another go since I found much more nuance in it than I have since it came out in 2016.
