I enjoyed this quite a bit, even though I think it's a pretty generic modern horror (not saying that's a bad thing, it just covers the typical themes of a modern horror) and it has things like little twists that are only there to shock you. It was a fun watch and interesting enough. It had the typical unholy being (this time being a witch), things disappear and people get scared and blame each other which was fine but I felt like I had seen it before. I can only compare this to The Lighthouse because I watched it first but this has nothing on it. I can't wait to see what Eggers has got to offer in the near future. I feel like his films are just going to get better and better.
The score was also typical, it has that "eerie" sound to it. With the weird noises, the long drawn out horns and the occasional drums. The sound very much reminded me of Midsommar in that aspect. All the performances are great. I did find it weird to hear a Yorkshire accent using old English words like "thy and hither". This is probably my favourite Ralph Ineson performance alongside Chris Finch in The Office (UK). He really had a wrestle with a goat in this.
