Routine ｢ルティーネ, Rutīne^?｣ is a human librarian and a Shadow Warrior. She is assigned to the mission to assassinate the Great Mage Serie. She works at a library in the Imperial Capital. Routine comes from the Lorbeer Domain and is interested in fortune-telling.

Personality

Routine appears composed, maintaining a calm demeanor even in tense situations. She is polite and respectful to superiors, as evidenced by her apology to Denken. She also follows instructions carefully, as demonstrated by her adherence to Wolf’s directive not to act alone. Furthermore, Routine is perceptive and careful, recognizing formidable enemies like Frieren and Sense. Iris describes Routine as dreary.

However, Routine also has a more fierce side, as she agrees with Iris that the life-or-death mission is exciting. In addition, Denken mentioned that Routine went on a rampage in the war up north.

Appearance

Routine has short, light-colored hair. She wears a long-sleeved shirt and dress.

Synopsis

History

Routine was born in the Lorbeer Domain, which is at the northernmost part of the Empire. At some point she participated in the war up north, where she went on a rampage.

Foundation Festival Arc

Shortly after Löwe orders Schritt to communicate the new mission to assassinate the Great Mage Serie to the Shadow Warriors, Routine learns of it from Iris and subsequently informs the priest Clematis.

The following day, while at the library, Routine meets Denken as he returns a rented book. When he mentions he is heading back to his hometown, Routine inadvertently comments on the long journey he has ahead of him, which leads Denken to conclude that she knows he is from Weise. Routine apologizes, explaining that she must have overheard the information and did not intend to cause him to make him uncomfortable.

Denken takes no offense, but before leaving also shares details he knows about Routine’s life, including about her hometown and interest in fortune-telling. When asked about what future she foresaw, Routine responds that she expected an ordinary day, but was proven wrong by the recent unexpected events.

Later, Routine participates in the Shadow Warrior's final meeting, and receives a list of the mission details. Upon seeing the names of Sense and Frieren on the list, she notes that they are up against formidable enemies.

At the end of the meeting, Routine is paired with Iris to patrol the underground passageway leading to the palace of the Imperial Capital. Routine mentions that she regularly patrols the tunnels and expresses concern about potential issues if the passage is unusable for the operation. When they inspect the tunnel’s midway point, they find it flooded, which Routine suspects is due to snowfall. They promptly report to Clematis that the tunnel is impassable.

Abilities

Not much is known about Routine's abilities. As a Shadow Warrior, she likely excels in strength, speed, mana suppression, and anti-mage combat. She demonstrated her quick reflexes by catching an arrow after Iris accidentally triggered a trap.
