Introduction |
Clematis 「クレマティス Kurematisu?」 is a priest and a Shadow Warrior. He is assigned to the mission to assassinate the Great Mage Serie. He works at a church in the Imperial Capital, Eiseberg.
Personality[]
Clematis is a calm and approachable individual, often seen with a smile on his face. He appears collaborative, frequently creating simplified mission lists for his fellow Shadow Warriors, making them easy enough for even a child to understand. He also used this skill to practice creating teaching materials for an orphanage.[1]
Clematis appears pious, emphasizing that material wealth is unimportant and that faith is what truly matters. Wolf describes him as persuasive with his words and careful with money.[2]
Appearance[]
Clematis is a tall man with light green eyes and light blonde hair that falls neatly across his forehead. He wears traditional clerical attire, consisting of a long, buttoned robe, as well as a necklace bearing the crest of the Goddess of Creation. Draped over his shoulders is a white stole that extends down to below his knees. He also wears black boots.
Synopsis[]
Foundation Festival Arc[]
After Löwe instructs Schritt to disseminate the new mission to assassinate the Great Mage Serie, the information passes through various informants, eventually reaching the librarian Routine, who then informs Clematis. Clematis subsequently shares the details with the nun Lore. The following day, Clematis attends the Shadow Warriors' final meeting to review the mission. He informs Schritt that a member of their group is missing. Schritt realizes she forgot to inform her brother about the meeting, so Clematis proceeds by providing everyone with the list of the mission details.
After the meeting, Clematis heads back to his church. Later, he receives a report from Iris and Routine, who inspected the tunnel from the era of the Unified Empire, informing him that the escape route to the Imperial Palace is unusable. Wehrlos then investigates the route himself, successfully swims through it, and goes to Clematis’s church to share his findings. Clematis concludes that Wehrlos is the only one capable of using the route.
While there, Clematis and Wehrlos also work out a plan to get Wehrlos—whom Clematis calls their greatest asset—behind enemy lines. After their discussion over tea, Wehrlos leaves, but quickly returns with a gravely injured cat, hoping Clematis can save it. Clematis, however, tells him it is too late and offers a prayer, to which Wehrlos replies that it is not necessary.
Relationships[]
Wehrlos[]
Clematis calls Wehrlos "a dear friend" and considers him a valuable ally, even referring to him as their "greatest asset". He holds deep respect for Wehrlos’s abilities, though Wehrlos himself seems skeptical of the high regard Clematis has for him.
Lore[]
Lore and Clematis both serve in the same church and maintain a professional relationship. Clematis sometimes involves Lore in tasks and preparations, though he notes that she doesn’t seem fond of him.
Abilities[]
Not much is known about Clematis's abilities. As a Shadow Warrior, he likely excels in the areas of strength, speed, mana suppression, and anti-mage combat.
