"Math Punch" is the second segment of the second episode of the Disney Channel animated series Hamster & Gretel.
Synopsis[]
Gretel faces off against a lightning-powered cowboy as Dave struggles to get Carolina the perfect anniversary gift.
Plot[]
As Kevin attempts to help a disinterested Gretel complete her math homework, Dave explains his intentions to make Carolina cry with a special wedding anniversary gift, having been out done by her gifts to him during years past. Meanwhile, supervillain Rodney Thunderpants arrives to wreak havoc on the city by destroying everyone's cellphones and tablets. Seeing the encounter as an excuse to avoid doing math, Gretel rushes out to stop him, ignoring Kevin's statements about math being a useful tool.
Downtown, Rodney tells Veronica Hill his backstory about how he came to dislike smartphones and how he gained his powers before Gretel confronts him. However, Rodney soon overpowers her and unleashes an electromagnetic pulse in the form of an energy ball with intent to destroy the cell phone tower, frying every smartphone within a 50-mile radius. Kevin follows Rodney, who hijacks a steam train that later falls off a cliff, while Hamster and Gretel chase down the energy ball. An employee attempts to use math to determine how to save the cell tower, but Gretel impatiently resolves to move the cell tower as the energy ball nears, preventing Dave from downloading his anniversary gift to Carolina.
When Gretel learns that Kevin and Rodney are falling off the cliff, Gretel reluctantly uses math to determine how fast she must travel to save her brother. When she succeeds, Rodney learns that smartphones can actually be useful and decides to get himself one. Meanwhile, Dave allows Carolina to show him her gift, a video compilation of all of their most cherished moments together; this then makes him cry.

Trivia[]
- Rodney got his powers after a cellphone-tower falls on him because his horse's lead was accidentally attached to it. He also says that he later gets hit by four bolts of lightning.
- Gretel's dog makes a cameo in this segment when it gets a fishbowl stuck on its head.
- The two old men playing checkers sometime near the middle of Rodney and Gretel's fight in the city might be a nod to Geri's Game. One of them even looks like Geri thanks to the glasses, clothes, hairstyle, and the way they sit and their movements. Whether if the man was meant be designed after Geri is unknown.
- This episode implies that Rodney is sensitive to getting any type of charcoal or dirt item hit in his eye.
