How Does Your Garden Grow?

Blogger has decided to tell my story backwards.

The outside temperature was 38 oF. The feels like temperature at first registered 93 oF. My kind of weather! By the time I took the picture the temperature was down to 77 oF. Still okay, though I prefer the 93

My trail through the depths of depression to the bird feeder and the bunny trail.

Path to the oil fill.

Path to the bird feeder in the front yard and some color to make the best of the sadness.

Inside, tiny tomatoes!

Lettuce for the week

The mailbox survived both the town plow and the plow guy that cleared the snow from the driveway.

I'm glad I brought Dedo inside. I was worried he wouldn't survive the plow. I hope the hydrangea bush survives

12.5 inches of snow on the back step. For an average of 12 1/3 inches of cold, fluffy gloom

13.75 inches in the trough garden

Desolation

11.75 inches

The storm cranking up. Snow up to the bottom of the storm door before we went to bed

Snow coming down. The post lantern looks like a lighthouse

Dedo protecting the house all snug and cozy from inside the front porch.

Saturday Afternoon at the Movies

This idea came from a Facebook meme:
Over 10 days, post your 10 all time favorite films. What movie has really made an impact on you or what films can you watch over and over and never tire of? Post either the movie poster, DVD cover or even a screenshot on your timeline. No need to explain.

Only I had a hard time picking out just 10 movies so my favorites over the next few hundred Saturdays 😸 in semi-alphabetical order my favorite films. What movie has really made an impact on you or what films can you watch over and over and never tire of? Post either the movie poster, DVD cover or even a screenshot on your timeline. No need to explain.

Windtalkers (2002) Nicolas Cage, Adam Beach

If you haven't seen this movie, it's available at YouTube.

The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. I had a dream I was at my parents house. At the end of the hallway, I met Charlie (friend of my parents) only I called him Skip. I never used that nickname for him. He was wearing a bright purple plaid tartan kilt. As we walked down the hall to the living room. He stopped and on the wall was a calendar. He told me "she [his wife, Doris] got a job in the grocery store and she gets her lunch" That seemed to be a perk one got for working in this store. As he turned and went into the living room, I was going to ask him about his kilt, but when I got to the living room, Charlie was gone. I woke up with a smile.

2. My SIL texted me she liked the birthday card I sent even if it was belated.

3. We didn't lose electricity during the snowstorm.

4. Magnetic charging cables finally arrived. I ordered them so long ago, I forgot I ordered them. They work great to curb the wire spaghetti

5. I took a long lunch break and watched The Old Maid  (1939) starring Bette Davis

Garden Card and Envelope

The Brother's Wife is one of the most thoughtful people I know. For decades, she's been sending greeting cards for every occasion. She leaves no one out.

I wanted to send her a special birthday card and found this fun garden card at the Brother Canvas Workspace for the Scan n Cut machine.

There were lots of pieces to cut out and I'm glad I didn't have to fussy cut them. I added the belly band to keep the card closed.

The Z card opens up to be displayed. I added the faux calligraphy birthday marquee. This card design would also work well for an anniversary or thinking of you card.

A special card deserves a special envelope. The card measured approx. 5 in. x 7 in. and I didn't have a large enough sheet of paper to make an envelope. I did have booklet envelopes (6 in. x 9 in) in my stash. Because the booklet envelope is considered over-size, it would require extra postage from the USPS. I have an old-fashioned postal scale and the card and envelope weighed in at just over 1.5 oz. so I figured two first-class stamps would be sufficient.

I found a rose panel, steal worthy design from Pushing the Envelope that would complement the Celebration stamp and added some fun lettering with a black and pink Micron Pigma pen. The SIL's favorite color is pink.

All was going well until I didn't get to the post office in time. I had to write on the back This is not late. It just prolongs the celebration. The card arrived during the snowstorm we had earlier this week. SIL said the bright flowers were a welcome sight.

T Stands for Jian Zhan Teaware

Last week, the Young One sent me a video on Facebook about how Jian Zhan teaware is made. The process was fascinating to watch and the cups are incredibly beautiful. Sadly, I couldn't find the video from Facebook on YouTube. All I found was the above clip which will give you an idea of the process.

NB: If the above video doesn't work, you can watch it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTuSXB-NUwo&feature=emb_err_woyt

If you are on Facebook, you can view the full video on the 9GAG Foodgasm page. The video is longer and gives an explanation of how the various colors are achieved. There are also a lot more examples of teacups especially in  gorgeous blues.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s blog to find out what the rest of the T gang is up to. If you want to play, include a beverage or beverage container in your post. Don’t forget to link your blog from Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s page.

Prayer for a Snowstorm

Since the East Coast is getting blasted with a Nor'Easter today I thought a previous journal page would be apropos. From a journal page from NaNoJouMo - Day 7 originally posted on Saturday, 10. November 2012

"Dear God,

If it must snow, can it snow chocolate instead?"
