Saturday Afternoon at the Movies

This idea came from a Facebook meme:
Over 10 days, post your 10 all time favorite films. What movie has really made an impact on you or what films can you watch over and over and never tire of? Post either the movie poster, DVD cover or even a screenshot on your timeline. No need to explain.

Only I had a hard time picking out just 10 movies so my favorites over the next few hundred Saturdays 😸 in semi-alphabetical order my favorite films. What movie has really made an impact on you or what films can you watch over and over and never tire of? Post either the movie poster, DVD cover or even a screenshot on your timeline. No need to explain.

Westworld (1973) Yul Brynner, James Brolin

If you haven't seen this movie, you can find it for rent on YouTube.

The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. Started my 6th year keeping a Good Things diary

2. Found a new follower on Twitter. Turns out, we worked at the same software house 30+ years ago.

3. Ordered a new, Winter jacket. It's cobalt blue!

4. Grateful to Divers and Sundry for being able to share current events even when it feels like the end of the world.

5. We watched The Wizard of Oz, one of my favorite horror movies, and had fun singing songs and running lines with exaggerated Boston accent in honor of the Tin Man (Jack Haley) from Newton, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. If I only had a haht. 💙

How was your week?

Christmas Cards

I like making cards as it gives me a chance to use up scrap paper and to add my own sentiment. Sentiments in commercial greeting cards are often too flowery and take decades to read. It's hard to find a card with a simple statement.

For the Young One. This idea came from a hand drawn card with a snowman. I used the Scan n Cut to cut out the gingerbread man, added baker's twin and Christmas light embellishments. The gingerbread man is a reference to the Young One's cocoa mug which became known as The Happy, Little Gingerbread man.

Inside: both "i"s dotted with tiny green crystal stickers

For Himself an origami Christmas tree which I am insufferably pleased with myself for being able to fold.

Inside: a simple pop up technique to make a stack of presents.

Of course in my haste to get the Eldest's Christmas package mailed, I forgot to take a picture of her card. I used the Scan n Cut and followed their cutting directions to make this card from the Brother Canvas Workspace.

I used light blue/light green paper with snow and a coordinating blue paper with a Mama and baby polar bear. On the back one mitten letters cut out to spell Holly and the other Jolly. I also included a personal note.

Did you make any Christmas or New Year cards?

T Stands for Happy Mail and a Cinnamon Roll

Nan from Artful Journey sent this adorable mitten card with and a beautifully decorated envelope. I love the mittens Nan drew to match the card and the luscious, candy cane lettering. Nan and I met some 20 odd years ago through Masscribes the Massachusetts calligraphy guild

Through classes at the Worcester Art Museum and the guild, I met Dave, the mailman. Dave sent this handsome envelope with lettering done in gradations of blue to coordinate with the Year of the Rat stamp.

Inside, this wonderful 11" x 17" calligraphy sampler. I love the Holidays all running away from 2020

For Christmas Eve morning, well, more like lunch as I started a little later than planned, I baked a batch of cinnamon rolls to have with my cup of tea.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s blog to find out what the rest of the T gang is up to. If you want to play, include a beverage or beverage container in your post. Don’t forget to link your blog from Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s page.

Happy Mail

From blog friend, Erika at BioArt Gal, a fun New Year's card. I don't know which I love more the adorable baby or the golden sun. Wait, the golden sun. Is it July, yet?

From my friend, Langley in British Columbia, Canada. A Yule Card. Beautiful calligraphy and

inside, a gorgeous, gold, gilt sun. My friends know me so well.

Thank you, ladies, for your thoughtful greetings and brightening the contents of the mailbox. These cards are so much nicer than the Real Estate Tax Bill that arrived the same day.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Another red sky in the morning.

frozen bird bath

First nuisance snow on New Year's Night.

Foggy start to the morning

By the afternoon warmer temperature left snow dotting the ground like clumps of daisies. I wish.

Visitors are welcome, but not the snow.

The last snow pile from last week's storm. Dedo can finally see his toes again.

The Winter welcome garden flag.
