The Battle of the Block competition appeared in Big Brother 16 (US) and was reintroduced as a "fan favorite" during the premiere of Big Brother 17 (US). In this twist, two pairs of nominees compete against each other in a themed competition. The winning pair is safe from eviction for the week and also dethrones the Head of Household who nominated them, leaving the other Head of Household in power. This twist replaced the Have/Have-Not Competition in the early part of the game.
