Scott A. Shorr is a judge for Position 5 of the Oregon Court of Appeals. He assumed office on January 1, 2016. His current term ends on January 1, 2029.
Shorr won re-election for the Position 5 judge of the Oregon Court of Appeals outright in the primary on May 17, 2022, after the general election was canceled.
Shorr was appointed to this court by Democratic Governor Kate Brown December 7, 2015, for a term that began on January 1, 2016.[1]
Education
Shorr earned his bachelor's degree from Vassar College in 1990 and his J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law in 1995.[1]
Career
At the time of his appointment to the court of appeals, Shorr was a managing shareholder at Stoll Berne, a Portland, Ore., law firm where he had practiced since 1996. Shorr specialized in commercial litigation such as class action and securities fraud, according to the governor's office, which called him “one of the state’s top appellate lawyers.”[1] Shorr has experience arguing cases before state appellate courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. At the beginning of his career, Shorr was a law clerk for Oregon Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Unis.[1]
