Judges of the Oregon Court of Appeals are chosen in nonpartisan elections to serve six-year terms, after which they must run for re-election if they wish to continue serving.[4] In the event of a midterm vacancy, the governor appoints a replacement. The appointee serves until the next general election occurring 60 or more days after the appointment, at which point he or she may run for election.[4]

- a qualified elector of his or her county of residence;

Selection of the chief judge
The chief judge of the court of appeals is appointed by the chief justice of the Oregon Supreme Court to serve a two-year term.[4]
