I grew up on a farm in rural Lane County. We didn't have much, but the help our community gave my family ensure that I always had access to a great education, healthcare, and housing. I can never repay that debt, so I've paid it forward through 26 years of military service, and now service in the State Legislature.

  • Oregon children have the right to a great education that prepares them for college or career training.
  • No one should suffer from a lack of healthcare.
  • We need to build housing for the future to ensure that no one has to sleep on our streets and our children can live in the neighborhoods they grew up in.

I'm running to fight for Oregon's working families. That means ensuring that they have access to education, healthcare, housing, and an environment that supports them.

Commitment to the people we serve is the most important characteristic of an elected official.

I think dedication to the people I serve and a willingness to learn are the keys to success in this position.

I worked on my dad's farm for most of my childhood.

They each have their strong points. Running for office every two years keeps Representatives closer to their constituents. (They also have half as many.). The longer tenure of Senators gives them more time to develop expertise in particular subjects.

The state's biggest challenge will be building an economy that supports its people and conserves the environment that we love.

Yes, it's important to appreciate how other people approach the same problems, particularly if they hold a different set of values.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Oregon

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
