Dan Schoen is a former Democratic-Farmer-Labor member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 54 from January 3, 2017, to December 15, 2017.
On November 21, 2017, Schoen announced that he would resign from office due to sexual misconduct allegations levied against him by state Rep. Erin Maye Quade (D), former Democratic state House candidate Lindsey Port, and a Minnesota state Senate staffer. Schoen is a former Democratic-Farmer-Labor member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 54A from 2013 to 2017.

2014
Elections for the Minnesota House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 12, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Dan Schoen was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Matthew Kowalski was unopposed in the Republican primary. Schoen defeated Kowalski in the general election.[7][8][9]
2012
Schoen won election in the 2012 election for Minnesota House of Representatives District 54A. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 14 and defeated Derrick Lehrke (R) and Ron Lischeid (Independence) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[10][11]

Noteworthy events
Resignation following sexual misconduct allegations
Schoen resigned on November 21, 2017, following accusations of sexual misconduct made by state Rep. Maye Quade (D), former Democratic state House candidate Lindsey Port, and a Minnesota state Senate staffer. The allegations against Schoen included his unwanted touching of Port and suggestive text messages he sent to Quade and the staffer. At the time his resignation was announced, Schoen denied the allegations against him. According to his attorney, Schoen resigned because the allegations would have prevented him from being an effective legislator.[12][13]
