2014
Nash's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[8]
The Economy
- Excerpt: "We are drowning in a sea of debt. People and businesses are leaving Minnesota to find relief from the crushing tax burden. But what about the rest of us? What about those of us who can’t leave? I’ve seen, firsthand, how families and businesses are being squeezed by the continuous tax burdens placed on us by Governor Dayton. The government needs to stop overspending, overtaxing and over-inflating their budget, and needs to start living within its means. I want to lower taxes and put your money back where it belongs: in your wallet!"
Health Care
- Excerpt: "Let’s face it: ObamaCare has been a disaster. Before MNSure, Minnesota’s answer to ObamaCare, Minnesota had some of the best health care in the world. We were ranked third in the nation for providing the best in health coverage. To make health care more affordable for every Minnesotan, we must encourage competition in the marketplace, not burden it with government programs. As we have recently seen with the VA hospital scandal, when the government runs health care, quality suffers, availability suffers, and patients suffer. Our veterans deserve better, and so do all Minnesotans."
Jobs
- Excerpt: "Companies are leaving Minnesota because taxes and regulations make it too difficult to do business here. CEO Magazine has rated Minnesota the 34th worst state to do business in for 2014. Our neighboring states are all ranked in the teens. We can’t expect businesses to stay in Minnesota if we continue to overtax them. Making Minnesota more business friendly will bring jobs and prosperity to the state."
Education
- Excerpt: "I went to public school, and so do my children. A quality education, grounded in the basics, is vital for our students. Our schools should be controlled at the local level, with direct input from parents, not by distant bureaucrats. We need to focus more on teaching our kids, and less on testing them in an endless barrage of local, state and national tests."
Life
- Excerpt: "I believe that life begins at conception and ends at natural death. As the father of six children, I believe that every life is precious, and I will stand up to protect life. I have been rated 100% pro-life by MCCL."
Guns
- Excerpt: "I’m a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, and I believe that your Constitutional right to keep and bear arms is worth protecting! I was one of four citizens who testified in 2013 against a disastrous gun control bill in the Minnesota Senate. I promise to continue that fight in the Minnesota House."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
