My name is Corbin Sabol. I am 32 years old and served in the Navy for five years. I have lived in San Diego since 2016 and have been loving it each and every day.

But at the end of the day, I am a concerned citizen. I believe that government has encroached too far onto the lives of the people, with little to nothing to show for it. We have high taxes and regulations, yet failing educational standards compared to the rest of the nation and our roads are in shambles. The corrupt politicians in Sacramento are taking our state in the wrong direction.

To fix this, I want to empower the people by transferring power and control from Sacramento, back to the local-level where it belongs. It is the local governments who should be leading the charge to fix most problems the people face, and Sacramento should be supportive of their efforts when needed, as opposed to making demands of local governments.

I am stepping up to be another voice to challenge the status quo and the corrupt system that favors the wealthy, the elites and the well-connected. Our government stopped serving and representing the people a long time ago, we need to change that, because we the people deserve better.

Ensuring the rights of the people are protected and adhering to Constitutional principles.

Empowering local governments/municipalities with the support of State government.

Holding our government accountable for the fraud, waste and abuse of tax payer dollars.

Finding solutions grounded in good faith and common sense to California's many crisis', such as the expanding amount of homeless population, high cost of living, high gas prices and deadly and illicit drugs.

There are many people I look up to, such as my parents for their desire to care for others and loving dedication to raise me to the best of their ability. I look to my wife for her drive and ambition to be the best possible person she can be in her professional career. I also look up to and am inspired by the many people that are now close friends, whom I have met since I have stepped up to be an active participant in our government who have instilled in me the importance of what it means to truly care for our country,

Dignity: We must recognize the dignity of the individual and the dignity of human beings.

Integrity: We must restore integrity in our public discourse, in our government and in our lives.

Community: We must rebuild community starting at the local level.

Honesty: We must be true to ourselves and in our actions.

I truly love our country and everything she has been able to give the people of our country. Our country is special, in that those who are born here and those who immigrate here are able to make their lives as they see fit because of the freedoms, liberties and inalienable rights each citizen of our country has the benefit of having. And those that came before me paved the way for me and many others to enjoy the lives we have today.

All of that is under threat. Everything we take for granted and everything we enjoy and everything we hold near and dear to our hearts is under threat by the corrupt politicians on both sides of the political aisle who cater to the demands of the special interest groups, corporate donors or perhaps even the interests of their own party over the people they have sworn to represent and serve.

I recognize that and I am willing to do whatever is necessary to ensure this threat is vanquished.

That is why I am qualified for public office.

First and foremost is to defend the inalienable rights of the people they represent. Second is to listen and represent the people, not the special interest groups, corporations and big-money donors. Third is to ensure government is working for the benefit of the people, not the elites.

I would like to leave behind a legacy of service.

I truly believe that our purpose in life is to make a better tomorrow and make a better life for those who come after us.

I do not take what I currently have for granted.

I understand that there were people who came before me who gave me this life.

And we can create a better future than what we enjoy today. For all of us. If we work towards it, in service of one another.

The first historical event that happened in my lifetime was 9/11. I was 11 years old.

My very first job was when I worked at Friendly's Restaurant at the age of 16. At first I worked in serving ice cream to customers, eventually starting serving and at the young age of 19, was a shift supervisor. I held this job until I was 22 years old.

The Case Against Socialism - Rand Paul

I have struggled to find my purpose.

Despite being eager to join the United States Navy and honorably serving for five years, that was not my purpose.

Despite now, at this time in my life, being able to climb the "corporate ladder" in my current career. That is not my purpose.

I have found my purpose which is to go in front of the people and ask them for their support so I may defend their freedoms, liberties, inalienable rights and ability to thrive and be prosperous against the corrupt politicians and evildoers.

The ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature is one that equally challenges both sides. Here in California, this challenge does not exist as we have a supermajority in the State Legislature that more or less agrees with what Governor Newsom wants. Coupled with how much power Sacramento has over the people, many problems have arose and remain to be unsolved such as a housing crisis, a homelessness crisis, sky rocketing high gas prices, failing educational standards and more.

Undoing corruption in our government and putting people into office who are true servants of the people who only care about representing the people and not the interests of their party or special interest groups and corporations.

California might as well be currently a state with a unicameral legislative body as the supermajority votes in lockstep with one another.

This is wrong as there is no challenge and competition between the two sides. Healthy challenges to one's ideas only bring out the best in all of us. Remove those challenges and we fall into our own echo-chambers.

Yes and no.

Yes, in the sense that state legislatures will have a steep learning curve ahead of them if they do not have prior experience. But this

No, in the sense that we need people in our State legislative body, who have not been wrongly influenced from prior offices.

Absolutely. I understand I will not see eye-to-eye with many legislatures, but a healthy relationship and healthy competition of ideas to make everyone's ideas is necessary.

Anything that truly reflects the demographics and values of the people. Unfortunately, we see redistricting happening from whoever is in power, to redistrict in their favor so their party and influence may remain in power.

I would like to be part of the following committees:

Budget: To ensure the tax payer dollars are not being wasted and being spent efficiently, ethically and honestly.

Housing and community development: To loosen regulations and restrictions currently imposed that make it difficult to build new homes.

Local government: To establish relationships with the local governments of California and work to return power back to the local governments.

I appreciate Kevin Kiley's commitment to transparency. He uses social media as a tool to keep the people informed which is a practice I see myself modeling.

No. As a matter of fact, it concerns me if candidates for office aspire for other seats before even being voted into office. An elected representative's job is to represent the people and only the people, not do what they think is necessary to climb the political ladder.

Yes. Small business-owners have been negatively impacted due to the state of California's cruel lockdowns. I will never forget how many California politicians turned their backs on the people when I am in office as I will never do the same.

Where was the Constitution signed?

At the bottom.

Absolutely. No one person should be able to grant him or herself emergency powers and allow those powers to continue unchecked without the necessary checks and balances.

Absolutely. However, there are some things we cannot compromise on, such as upholding our oath to our Constitution.
