Angela M. Mazzarelli was a judge for the 1st Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. She assumed office in 1994. She left office in 2022.
Education
Judge Mazzarelli was raised in Massachusetts. She received her B.A. degree in history from Brandeis University in 1968 and her J.D. degree from the Columbia University School of Law in 1971.[1]
Career
Judge Mazzarelli began her legal career in 1971 as a staff attorney for Bronx Legal Services. In 1973, she worked as the special assistant to General Counsel for the Housing and Development Administration. In September of that year, she became a law assistant to the New York County Board of Justices in the Supreme Court. In 1978 she became the principal law assistant to State Supreme Court Justice William McCooe. From December of 1980 to December of 1985, she was a partner in the law firm Wresien & Mazzarelli. She was elected to the New York City Civil Court in November of 1985. In 1988, she was appointed acting justice of the State Supreme Court and in 1992, she was elected justice of this court. She was appointed to the Appellate Division two years later.[1][2]
