Personal — Angela M. Mazzarelli was raised in Massachusetts. She was appointed to the Appellate Division, First Department in 1994 by Governor Mario M. Cuomo.

Judicial Positions - Prior to her Appellate Division appointment, Justice Mazzarelli was elected to the New York State Supreme Court in November of 1992. She was Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court designated by the Chief Administrative Judge in May 1988. Prior to that she was a Judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York elected in 1985.

Legal Experience - Justice Mazzarelli was a partner in the firm of Wesien & Mazzarelli from 1980 to 1985. From 1978 to 1980 she was Principal Law Assistant to the Honorable William P. McCooe, Supreme Court, New York County, Civil and Criminal Terms. She was Assistant to the Board of Justices in the Supreme Court in New York County, Civil Term from 1973 to 1977 and was a Special Referee on Election Law, Designated by the Appellate Division First Department. In 1973 she was the Special Assistant to General Counsel, Housing and Development Administration. From 1971 to 1973 she was a Staff Attorney for Bronx Legal Services.

Education — Angela M. Mazzarelli received her JD from Columbia University in 1971. She graduated with a BA from Brandeis University in 1968.
