William F. Mastro is a judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. His current term ends on January 1, 2035.

Mastro (Democratic Party, Republican Party, Conservative Party) ran for election for judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Mastro was also appointed to the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department by former Governor George Pataki in 2002. He retired from the position on December 31, 2021.[1]

Education

Judge Mastro was born in 1951. He earned a B.A. degree from Villanova University in 1972. He then served in the Navy from 1972 to 1974. He earned his J.D. from New York Law School in 1977 and was admitted to the New York bar in 1979.[2][3]

Career

Judge Mastro began his legal career in 1979 working as a private practice lawyer. In July of that year, he joined the Mental Hygiene Legal Service as a staff attorney. He worked there through 1980 and then became a law clerk to Michael Pesce of the New York City Civil Court for Kings County. After one year, he left to become the principal law clerk to Louis Sangiorgio of the Supreme Court for Richmond County. He worked in this capacity for approximately 11 years (January of 1982-December of 1992). He began service on the Supreme Court of the State of New York in January of 1993. On this court, he judged for Kings County through 1995 and then for Richmond County until June of 2002, when he joined the Appellate Division.[2]
