Robert Spolzino
Robert Spolzino was a judge of the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department. He was designated to this division by Governor Pataki on April 16, 2004 and re-designated by Governor Spitzer on January 1, 2007.[1][2] He retired in 2009 to become a partner in the law firm of Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP.[3]
Education
Judge Spolzino received an A.B. degree from Georgetown University in 1980 and a J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law in 1983.[1]
Career
Judge Spolzino began his legal career in 1983 as an Appellate Court Attorney in the 2nd Judicial Department. In 1984, he became a secretary to Kenneth Lange of the Westchester County Court. The following year he worked as a secretary for Justice Leon Lazer of the Appellate Division. From 1987 to 1988, he was the Deputy Village Attorney and Town Prosecutor for Mount Kisco, NY. In 1988, he became the Mount Kisco Village Attorney. He held this position until 1995. He worked as legal counsel to Senator Nicholas Spano in 1997. Then, from 1998 to 2001, he worked as a lobbyist and government relations consultant for the Westchester County Board of Legislators. In addition to these various jobs, from 1987 to 2001, Spolzino worked as a private practice lawyer. During this time, he worked for the law firms Singleton, Keegan & Spolzino, P.C., Keegan & Spolzino, P.C., Banks, Curran, Keefe & Spolzino, LLP, and Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, LLP. In 2001, Governor Pataki appointed him to the Supreme Court of the State of New York, 9th Judicial District. He was elected to the Supreme Court on November 5, 2001 and served as the Supervising Judge of the Westchester County Matrimonial Parts in 2004. Later that year, he joined the Appellate Division.[1]
