The floral 4 patch finally quilted

This quilt has been a long time coming. It started inspired by a quilt I saw at a quilt show years ago. When I finished piecing it, it did not match what I saw in my mind. I was looking for some floating feeling from the floral 4 patches. I found a great border, but it still sat. Finally, I forced myself to quilt it. It was a lot of work as it is a big quilt and there was a lot of quilting.
It is finished, but it still does not live up to what I had seen in my head. I think the black, even though I used black on black prints, ruins it. I usually never use black in painting or quilting.
I think someone will like it. I was glad I could get the quilting done finally.

Spring Colorwash

I had so much fun in the last colorwash class with Wanda, that I am doing it again. I have enough batiks on the trays I think to make another one, but since it is spring (real slowly around here), I want to use florals.
When I did not know exactly what I was doing a while ago, I did make one, but it was sold at a show. I seem to be lacking a lot of colors and values I need, so I will have to really scrounge through all my fabric to find enough- especially oranges, greens and blue greens.
I love florals and Debbie always inspires me as I keep going back to her gallery of floral quilts. I need flowers. I paint flowers, I just love them and all their shades, shapes, and textures. My intial efforts here will have to be mightily tweaked and added to.

Need flowers now

When Debbie of Stitchin Therapy posted a floral log cabin block, I was smitten and had to try it. Even though there were many other things I had to do, I followed the squirrel and made four blocks to see how they would look.
They use 2" squares and scrappy neutrals. I really needed these little bouquets of flowers. I think I will keep the squares 2", but that means I need to cut a ton. I have lots of 2 1/2" florals on my colorwash trays, but I will use the Accuquilt die to cut floral scraps. I have to cut oodles of 2" neutral strips also. I think it would be a good idea to do the cutting and then assemble a whole lot at once.
I have no idea how these will be arranged. I will make a garden of them first, and then figure it out. Just love looking at all those little floral patches. I did have purple snow irises open today and I almost fell over. The Hellebores have big buds, but no open flowers yet.
     Thanks, Debbie!
