Daniel Willard Durston was a houseguest on Big Brother 24 (US).

Being a long-time superfan of the game, Daniel initially had a strong position in the house for winning the first Head of Household competition and forming a final 2 pact with Nicole Layog, which they called The Rogue Rats. His game started to crumble when the Festie Besties twist was unleashed and a series of events severely weakened his position in the house. When Daniel and Nicole had a huge public fight with Taylor Hale as they thought Taylor tried to manipulate Nicole in quitting competitions and even the game, the outsiders of the house started to realize that Taylor was innocent from the accusations thrown by some members of the house and decided to include Taylor in creating a new dominant alliance called The Leftovers, which successfully evicted their first target, his ally Ameerah Jones in a blindside. After winning the Power of Veto in Week 4 and using it to target Taylor, Daniel indirectly caused his closest ally Nicole's eviction as she also got nominated along with Taylor because of the Festie Besties even after Head of Household Monte Taylor warned him that Daniel's plan might backfire. Without any strong allies left, Daniel was already a dead man walking as The Leftovers decided to target and backdoor him for his behavior, close associations with Nicole and and being a member of the rival alliance, Old Skool, which led to his eviction in a vote of 8-1.

With Daniel's actions in the house (especially his statements against Taylor), he has often been considered as one of the main villains of the season by many of his castmates and fans.

What’s the best advice you received before coming out to play?
I think the best advice I received before coming out to play was actually when I was super young, touring as a musician. I wanted to get bigger and more successful. And another musician who was once a clown told me, "You got to do what you got to do in order to get where you're going." And I've lived by that my whole life. And I'm definitely taking that into the Big Brother house.

Outside of that life motto, the best advice I've heard as far as Big Brother goes, is actually Kevin from Big Brother Canada on a podcast when he says, "Nobody knows anything. We're all terrible. And we're all dumb." (Laughs.)

What do you think people will perceive you as?
I think going into the house, people are gonna perceive me as this loud, obnoxious person at first. I am very outspoken, and I project insanely loud, because I'm a theatre actor. And they're not wrong about all those things! (Laughs.) I just hope that they can kind of vibe with it. But I think maybe because I'm 6'3" they're gonna think I'm a physical threat. But I'm not that big of a person in general. Hopefully, there's bigger physical threats in the house. And they'll kind of let me slide on the radar for a while.

What types of players would you least want in your alliance?
Loud and obnoxious people! (Laughs.) Because I might be one of them and we have too many of those in one group. It's going to it's going to blow up for sure! But also the crazy masculine men. Not physically big, but the ones who have to make a point that they're like this macho man. I don't really vibe with those people. And I definitely don't want to be working with them.

What’s something the other houseguests may dislike about you?
My humor might be a little skewed here and there. Because I'm used to hanging out with my best friends who get me and I get them. So when I meet new people, I dropped that same humor on them. A lot of times, it doesn't stick at first. And people kind of judge me for it. So I have to start to adapt and find my own way around it, which is what this game is about. But I think after the first couple of days, hopefully, they'll get used to my humor, and I'll get used to theirs. And we'll all just love each other until I pick them off. (Laughs.)

On eviction night, would you rather flip the votes against the house to help your individual game, or go with the house to help your overall alliance?
I'm going to do whatever works for me. I obviously have to work it in a way that's not going to be found out if it's a rogue vote or anything like that. But it's definitely my game. I waited too long to play this game to play someone else's game. So on eviction night, it's going to be the vote that helps me. Whether that's going with the house for one week or two, or just completely flipping it anytime I need to.[1]

Player History - Big Brother 24 (US)[]

Being a long-time superfan of the game, Daniel initially had a strong position in the house for winning the first Head of Household competition, which gave him an advantage of gaining intel from among his housemates and building great connections with many people in the house. He formed a Final Two pact with Nicole Layog, which they called The Rogue Rats.

As he saw himself as a strong competitor, he did not want to target physical threats, especially the strong men in the house, leading him to put Michael Bruner and Terrance Higgins on the block, with Michael being his primary target. Michael won the Power of Veto, which instead led him to target and nominate Taylor Hale because he believed the numerous lies spun against her, even going so far as to tell Taylor that she should apologize for the things she did in the house. This plan backfired on him after the first major twist of the season, the Backstage Pass, was cancelled because Paloma Aguilar, one of three holders of The Backstage Passes and therefore was eligible for eviction, walked from the game, which saved both of his nominees from eviction.

He was safe for the next two weeks, but his game started to crumble when on the third week, the Festie Besties twist was unleashed and a series of events severely weakened his position in the house. When Daniel and Nicole had a huge public fight with Taylor as they thought Taylor tried to manipulate Nicole in quitting competitions and even the game, the outsiders of the house started to realize that Taylor was innocent from the accusations thrown by some members of the house and decided to include Taylor in creating a new dominant alliance called The Leftovers, with his ally Ameerah Jones as their first main target.

The Leftovers was able to blindside and evict Ameerah, and they set eyes on Daniel's closest ally Nicole the following week as Monte Taylor, a member of this alliance, won the next Head of Household. Daniel did not initially see the need to use the Power of Veto he won to keep the nominations the same, but changed his mind and infamously used it when Monte warned him that Nicole could go home as a backdoor option if Daniel used the PoV to save nominees Alyssa Snider and Indy Santos, believing that Monte was lying.

After Nicole got evicted, Daniel was already a dead man walking, as The Leftovers decided to target and backdoor him for his behavior, as well as his close associations with Nicole and the rival alliance, Old Skool, leading to his eviction in a vote of 8-1.
