In 2005, President George W. Bush allegedly addressed a meeting of Republicans discussing whether to renew the Patriot Act due to its possible unconstitutionality by angrily blurting out that the Constitution was “just a goddamned piece of paper!” If the story is true, it partly explains the numerous crimes committed by Bush and his associates, including the invasions of both Afghanistan and Iraq based on hyped and even fabricated intelligence. It also suggests the unwillingness of proponents of overriding executive authority to accept that the American people are the inheritors of a number of inalienable liberties to include freedom of speech and association, both of which were impacted negatively by the Patriot Act and the other legislation that followed.

I often think of George Bush when I observe the antics of Joe Biden and his claque of Trotskyites at work. To be sure, thanks to the Bill of Rights you can currently say anything you want in the United States, though there are limits on that freedom if one goes so far as to offend those who are powerful. If you do upset the oligarchs who run our country through corruption of public officials, they have a thousand ways to get you. I recently wrote an article on the use of lawfare to block people and views one objects to by taking them to court on some pretext and bankrupting them through legal fees and penalties. The court system hardly represents the people in any country. It is inevitably heavily politicized by the politicians that grant it its authority and ultimately represents the big money interests that the judges consider their real peers in the Establishment.

The United States government has in fact embraced the suppression of unpopular views and the nations and groups that it finds offensive through the use of sanctions, which are essentially punishments doled out arbitrarily as the government can issue a sanction on its own authority without having to provide any evidence or make a case. And when the White House sanctions a foreign government or group, secondary sanctions kick in to prevent anyone from exchanging goods or services with the targeted entity. I recently was on the receiving end of a Department of the Treasury demand that I stop writing for a foreign website which had been sanctioned. I was warned that I might be subject to a $311,562 fine if I failed to comply. Insofar as I could determine, the foreign website was only guilty of having strongly condemned United States foreign policy, as do I and many other Americans, but the threat of the government coming down with its thousands of lawyers meant that I and other US contributors terminated our relationship.

The federal government was telling us that we had a right to free speech and association except in cases where we were interacting with groups that the Treasury Department disapproved of. In a system as hopelessly corrupted as the US federal government, it is inevitable that powerful groups will surface that will be able to dictate what is acceptable and what is not. That very often comes down to what might once have been regarded as free speech and association issues. The Democratic Party might reasonably be described as a group of satrapies representing certain special interests, most visibly homo-and transsexuals, “choice” women, blacks and Jews. The balancing act required to keep all the subsets under control frequently strains credibility. Joe Biden recently made an impassioned speech demanding that the so-called Equal Rights Amendment should immediately become part of the Constitution because it is “the clear will of the American people.” Ironically, Joe heads a government that believes that gender discrimination is okay as long as it is directed against white men. He is also currently pushing for national education reform, which some refer to as either dumbing down or reverse racism, to bring more “diversity” and “equity” into the system. Doing so of course will require Affirmative Action style discrimination based on race and the president is also pledged to nominate a new Supreme Court Justice based solely on skin color and gender, not on qualifications or preparation for the position. Other candidates need not apply even if they are better qualified and “equal rights” depend on who you are in the Democratic Party pecking order. Leondra Kruger, reportedly a leading candidate is black, a woman and also Jewish.

So Joe Biden either understands the meaning of the words and expressions he uses, or he doesn’t. He probably thinks it doesn’t matter as he is speaking to a receptive and not very critical audience, which includes his mainstream media allies. And there is also his Chief of Staff Ron Klain there to poke him in the ribs when he is hesitating and has to say anything or look presidential.

In another speech in Atlanta regarding the so-called “right to vote,” Honest Joe explicitly compared skeptics in the Senate who would prefer to have the states determine who is a legal resident and citizen for voting purposes to historic racists Bull Connors and George Wallace. He then denied that he had been calling the dissidents out as racists. George Orwell’s “newspeak” is definitely on the way as the “right to vote” is little more than a pious slogan that is an invitation to widespread electoral fraud benefiting the Democrats through mail-in voting and registration without documentation.

And there is of course Israel, which has an entire government department dedicated to the propagation of expressions like “holocaust denial, “surging anti-Semitism” and “right to defend oneself.” January 27th was International Holocaust Remembrance Day and some of the antics engaged in by presumably well-educated adult politicians and government officials perhaps offer a glimpse into what is coming in terms of the waning ability to speak one’s mind. The United Nations approved an Israeli motion calling for a crackdown on “holocaust denial,” and the Israeli ambassador Gilad Erdan demanded that such content be banned from social networking media worldwide. He claimed that “Holocaust denial has spread like a cancer. It has spread under our watch. It has spread because people have chosen to be irresponsible and to avoid accountability…As you dodge responsibility, evil grows… Social media giants can no longer remain complacent to the hate that spreads on their platforms.”

To be accurate, the “avoiding accountability” claim sounds more reminiscent of Israeli and US behavior than that of those social media sites alleged to be in denial. And the malady appears to have taken hold in “liberal” Canada, where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has denounced protesting truckers as “fascists” and “racists.” He is beginning to sound like Joe Biden and Naftali Bennett and I am waiting for the “domestic terrorist” and/or “anti-Semite” label to be applied to quell what is a genuine populist reaction to draconian government policies. To cite Orwell again, what Israel, Canada and the United States understand is that when it comes to establishing the preferred narrative “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past… The very concept of objective truth is fading out of the world. Lies will pass into history.” Labeling opponents as racists or Nazis delegitimizes them so you will not have to deal with their grievances or arguments, which is precisely what is intended.

The irony is that free speech is already a distant memory in many countries. Orwell opined that “If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever.” Constitutions guaranteeing a right to free speech proliferate in the Old World but are ignored or circumvented by governments, particularly if one is addressing almost anything having to do with the Second World War. Witness how in Europe the issue of presumed “holocaust denial,” now sometimes referred to in the US as “holocaust denialism” as if it were a disease, has been widely criminalized. The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that the negation or revision of “clearly established historical facts — such as the Holocaust — … would be removed from the protection of free speech under the European Convention on Human Rights.”

Bear in mind that “holocaust denial” includes any questioning of any aspect of the standard narrative endorsed by the US and other governments. Interestingly, a bit of pushback against a holocaust exemption for free speech appeared in an issue of Foreign Policy magazine, entitled “First they came for the Holocaust Deniers and I did not speak out”. The author Jacob Mchangama observes how hate speech and similar legislation has an unfortunate tendency to propagate and be used by governments to block all kinds of speech and writing that is actually quite innocent of any agenda but disapproved of by those in power. He cites how in 2014 a Russian blogger named Vladimir Luzgin was arrested and imprisoned after writing quite innocently on social media that Communist Russia and Nazi Germany collaborated to invade Poland in 1939 and thus began World War 2. His account was undoubtedly historically accurate, but the way it was presented offended someone in power and he was found guilty of misrepresenting the accepted narrative relating to the “Great Patriotic War against Germany.”

It is not completely clear what kind of Brave New World the Democrats are intent on creating, but it should be accepted as certain that once free speech goes and the universities go “woke” there will no longer be platforms to challenge the status quo. Conservative or otherwise dissenting publications will come under pressure to toe the line or the arbiters of decorum in Washington will be quick to make sure that the message is received that there will be consequences. We have entered into a strange twilight zone where what really happens and happened in the past will not be subject to examination. Will it be a better or safer world because of that? Undoubtedly no, but living now in what are likely to be the twilight years of our tottering republic we can only hope that somehow sanity will prevail and we will again be able to experience real freedom.

    Since that sentence is the beginning of the very last paragraph, this may be a demonstration of what they call “burying the lede”. The darned Democrats just can’t be trusted!

    As it happens, I agree. But compared with what? Like, what have Republicans done lately to enhance freedom? How many of THEM have voted against the laws making BDS protests against the Apartheid state illegal? How many of THEM vote for the right of Women not to be compulsory mothers?

    Today we know the universities comprise a cancer within this civilization.

    Today in the US the universities are by far the most totalitarian Covidian institutions, to this day still imposing the most extreme, literal lockdowns, literally imprisoning students in their dorm rooms.

    Inexplicably to anyone who still values freedom in any political, social or psychological sense, or simply in the sense of having the physical freedom to move about, it seems there’s still a large constituency of students willing to submit to this totalitarian experiment right in the midst of our society. This is inexplicable to anyone who’s still a human being with a soul, but evidently the students see this as career training for aspiring totalitarian cadres.

    At the same time we suddenly see the revelation of what’s been a decades-long conspiracy among university administrators, professors and ambitious students to cultivate the neo-Bolshevist “wokeness” ide0logy, indoctrinate student cadres and infiltrate these cadres into every kind of institution – governmental, corporate, NGO, the establishment churches – to the point that the woke agents occupy high-level and otherwise critical positions at every point in these institutions.

    They’ve now launched their full-scale revolutionary attempt, aping the classical fascist technique of revolution-from-within-the-power-structure, timed to accompany its companion Covidian onslaught.

    Needless to say, there will be no challenging this status quo from within the universities, the very fortresses from which the revolutionary hordes have come squirming. And anyone who looks for a place and a people where the Bill of Rights still is respected and enforced will have to look outside this university-driven institutional system.

    The only word Orwell got wrong was the word forever. Why? We can answer that question by looking at another line from the article. Because that line tells us who is wearing the boot.

    The status quo is wearing the boot. Which is why the use of the word forever in Orwell’s quote is wrong. Because the fate of any status quo is a cultural impoverishment that undermines the status quo. Status quo’s are unsustainable, especially in an age more complex and unpredictable than every before.

    Or we could put it this way:

    The attempt of any elite to impose a social order that is free of control and sustained by force only increases the uncontrolled use of naked power. And it’s that force – constantly applied – that ends in cultural impoverishment and the collapse of the social institutions their power controls.

    This is why, as the saying goes, the revolution always ends by eating itself.

    If force fails there’s no alternative. And force always fails. So the system collapses.

    This is the theme of just about every Shakespearean Tragedy. The kingdom is overcome by some socio-moral sickness. There’s something wrong in the state of Denmark – not in the state of Hamlet. His behavior is merely symptomatic. It’s the system that’s sick. He’s just acting out more than anyone else because he’s the smartest one there.

    It’s not that he waited too long to act. That’s simple-minded. It’s that he was torn between wanting to act, but being smart enough to know that what he wanted to save was unsavable.

    Things just get worse until the whole thing crumbles in Act 5 and all of the players who up until then were playing their part, get wiped out. The implication being, after the curtain drops the dead are cleared from the stage and replaced. Only then can health return.

    And that’s the situation we’re today. We’re in Act 5.

    Perhaps it has spread in response to the attempts to repress it.

    Without questioning the sincerity of those who profess to doubt the Holocaust, isn’t it possible that one of the motives that leads them to adopt such a belief the desire to defy an increasingly oppressive and indefensible orthodoxy? I’m reminded of Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s Christianity, which may have been sincere enough, but which also obviously owed something to a desire on his part to find an ideology to set against the secular orthodoxies of our time.

    Would so many so ardently deny the reality of the Holocaust if our masters weren’t so set on forcing us to agree it happened? It is they, not us, who have made it a banner and a symbol.

    What if we don’t want to march under that banner?

They all receive large amiunts of money from their PACs, SuperPACs, and lobbyists — representing corporations, industries, countries other than the US, business entities other than American, rich Americans, rich foreigners. Money pours into “charities” and foundations that former politicians set up (Bushes, Clintons, Obamas) for whatever favors were rendered. Once out of office, former officials are rewarded with offers of unemployment by lobbyists, corporations, foundations, consulting firms, “think tanks” (funded by all of above), etc. Almost all elected officials retire from office much wealthier than they were when they gleefully take their first oath of office.

  26. I recall being appalled by a poll years ago in which the majority of respondents identified the Bill of Rights as a sort of communist manifesto, which they could not support. Nowadays of course we forget that there is an English Bill of Rights, in force since 1689, which protected the American colonists’ civil liberties so well that sections of it were copied verbatim into the American version a century later. The English Board of Trade’s crackdown on the leading cottage industry in the colonies, smuggling, largely led to the well known and wildly exaggerated claims by would-be revolutionaries of evil British tyranny.

    Congress originally considered 125 proposed amendments in 1789, which it reduced the ten we know after two years of debate. Reading the transcript of often rancorous discussion on them is remarkably eye opening, to say the least. (Recall that the discussion on how the Constitution itself was created was still a top state secret, would not be made public for another thirty years). For one example, the discussion of No. 7, which we now know as the Second Amendment, contained no talk of enabling citizens to possess firearms in order to overthrow the government –really now, that NRA fantasy is simply ludicrous- but much on whether federal officers would command state militias, or vice-versa, and most importantly, would the states or the national government be responsible for the men’s pay and other expenses.

    Incidentally one of the first petitions the new Congress received was from a group of Evangelicals anxious to remedy the Constitution’s oversight of not establishing an official state-supported church, as the mother country and three of the states already had. The legislators’ reply, again, hotly debated, was the First Amendment, explicitly forbidding such an imposition on freedom of conscience, one of the Enlightenment’s bedrock principles, still as endangered by today’s reactionaries as it was 233 years ago.

    A bit of good news that I’ve heard recently is that there are now a million fewer college students than there were prior to the scam-demic. This trend should be commended and encouraged. Also, at least 60% of college students are young women, meaning that young males have chosen to quit or forgo college in droves. Even if those boys are working at Walmart, it’s better than losing your soul (and health) in demonic universities, where they go into debt without learning a marketable skill. Also, many (if they’re smart) are learning skilled trades like plumbing and construction. My hope is that many of these leftists woke colleges will soon wither away and die.

    Though you have done your research on the Second Amendment, you have somehow overlooked the implicit role of the unorganized militia, the province of every able-bodied citizen. This proviso was a direct reflection of the direct precipitator of the Revolution, the stand made at the Concord bridge by the Concord Township militia when the then legitimate British rulers decided to go “a bridge too far” with the aim of seizing the arms and munitions of said militia.

    Contrary to the machinations of the scheming Federalists, a gang dominated by land-speculators, certain slave-owners and those northern banking and financial interests who profited greatly from that slave-trade; the Anti-Federalists were made up more of hard-core American Revolutionaries, actual latter-day representatives of the everyday folk who stood up to British power with that shot heard round the world.

At a local level, one man (woman) one vote is the full expression of true democracy.

    On a county, state or national level, reconstituted republican governance by representatives of We The People, with the Constitutionally determined outlawing of political parties along with very strict term-limits could express the will of the people to some fair degree.

    Of course, we cannot overlook Jefferson’s admonition when he, then conveniently tucked away as Minister (ambassador) to France, warned that the proposed (and adopted) court system introduced a monarchical element into what was allegedly a republican form of governance.

    So courts of a reconstituted republic would abolish the Supreme Court as developed in its legislative powers by the treasonous John Marshall, where members of said body are inevitably made up of lawyers and members of political parties. They would be replaced by a council of living national treasure elders, well noted in their communities for being giving, caring and yet judicious community builders. Minimum age for membership in such a court would be seventy and each term would be strictly limited to six years.

    America is in dire need of a Reconstitutional Convention populated by actual members of We The People and limited in the numbers of attorneys, bankers and other suspect self-seekers and representatives of the rich and powerful who could be admitted to such a gathering.

    I was in the Vietnam Era draftee army when the starting pay was around $125/month. At least you had free room and board while in training. But, in my final year, the Powers-that-Be smartened up and went VOLAR (all-volunteer).

    It was the Master Stoke of the Empire. Instead of being forced to deal with disgruntled two-year draftees, they now had mercenaries, working for pay as well as generous retirement benefits – if they lasted for 20 years. No one championed VOLAR more than John McCain.

    A draftee army in times of endless wars is not sustainable, especially since the Vietnam debacle. The all-volunteer army has allowed this country to drift away from democracy into Patriot Act totalitarianism. Much as I dislike the idea of conscripting young men into uniform against their will, the citizen-soldier served as a brake against overseas aggression. When soldiers are more worried about collecting their pensions once they turn 40, armed revolutions against the whore politicians becomes impossible. They are the president’s Pretorian Guard, not defenders of the Constitution.

    A number of years ago, I was made to appear in court on a trumped-up trespassing charge. I lived in a small community just north of Rockford, Illinois. I was sitting on a “park bench” at 7:00 AM, having gone on a walk around the neighborhood. A homeowner’s association “honcho” came out and told me that I was trespassing. I told him to call the police, which he did.

    I got back home from my walk and a sheriff’s deputy was sitting in his squad car, waiting for me to get back. My soon-to-be ex-wife had told him that I had gone on a walk. The deputy asked me if I had been sitting on a bench in front of the “lake” and I told him that I had been sitting on it. He promptly gave me a summons to appear in court.

    I engaged the services of a lawyer, at a cost of $500 and had to appear in court TWO times. My lawyer had obtained a plat of the land involved, which clearly showed that the bench was on county property. The judge then threw the case out.

    While I was in court the second time, there was what I assumed to be a husband and wife, who were seated and waiting to appear before the judge. They were very nicely dressed and appeared old enough to be my parents (I was 63 years old at the time). I asked myself what in the Hell were these respectable people doing in court? I will never know…

    I have come to the realization that it is best to AVOID any confrontation with ANY police at ANY TIME. At the very least, it will cost time and probably money. At worst, it could cost me my life. I have also come to the conclusion that I live in the most corrupt country in the world. The only difference between corruption in the USA and that of other countries is that “ours” is much more sophisticated.

    The REAL criminals who ALLOW all of the illegal drugs into our country and the people who bilk others out of millions and billions of dollars remain as free as can be.

    No corporation pays taxes. Corporations are hidden tax collectors for the gov’t. Every cent a corporation hands over to the gov’t to cover their official tax bill was collected from the public as part of the price paid for the corporation’s product or service. If you think about it, it is always the public that pays all taxes.

    To a corporation, a tax is just another cost of doing business and that cost is figured into the price of the product or service put on offer for sale. If the cost of steel goes up, cars become more expensive as a result. The tax is no different.

    Therefore, the corporations that pay no tax are the ones smart enough not to gouge their customers with the tax. Alternatively, their shareholders get a better return on investment which is taxed.

    Taxation is theft. To avoid theft is noble. It is only the terminally stupid that can’t see that.

    As for the political class, they are the smartest criminals in the society. They write the statutes that exempt themselves and issue demands known as “laws” to continuously fleece the public. That they provide some benefits to the public is only to keep them alive and working for their ultimate benefit. The political class isn’t stupid enough to kill the host they parasitize.

    The public, being mostly stupid herd animals that march off to wars and wave flags, support the political class by defining themselves as republicans or democrats and strongly support their team. After having changed the authority for a government from Articles of Confederation to Constitution, the powerful federalist few were not about to allow any amendments to their constitution that were not part of the conditions that enabled ratification. The Bill of rights were conditions precedent to ratification.

    There was a revolution in 1788, but the name of the government did not change, so most people did not know about the revolution. What happened is a group was sent to Philadelphia to write a new enabling document when the constitutional delegates came home, the same people who sent the group to Philadelphia, ratified the proposed enabling document, an act which enabled the powerful few to toss out the prior enabling document. BTW the name of the defeated enabling document was called The Articles of Confederation and the persons who lost out were the States Righters (also known as the Anti-Federalist). Federalism was designed to quash states rights and to reverse authority to governed<=limited by approval from the voters at the bottom, into authority to governed dictated by the few at top.

    True, but around the corner is the real real possible story, which is group internment. As I have posted before, Korematsu (allowing US internment of Japanese-Americans) is the law of the land. In Trump vs. Hawaii, the Roberts court refused to legally overrule that tactic, writing instead that Korematsu had been “overruled by history.” As Justice Jackson wrote in his Korematsu dissent, group internment will lie about like a loaded weapon, ready to be fired whenever a purported claim of necessity is made.

    All religions and also all nations having fostered big civilizations ask you to choose themselves over humanity. That was especially true for Christianity while it lasted : choosing that religion was essentially renounce to humanism and to common humanity and in particular to all arts ans sciences generally valued as typically human by most of humanity. They thus cannot start a war of extermination against humanity, though their interest is in the extermination of all idealists, which will always be a minority. They never had the project of exterminating Russia : on the contrary the people were so slavish that they wanted it to multiply and did achieve it. They had the project of culling off about 10% that would never submit and they did achieve that result more or less, mostly during the course of the Revolutionary Civil War and then of WWII. Germany, on the other hand, had the project of exterminating most of humanity they would meet with in Europe so as to make it look like the ancient Indian Empires.

    Surely Mr. Giraldi read Vonnegut, (“Slaughterhouse 5”)? Robert McNamara freely testified, (as if in Nuremberg), to what the US did to the civilian population of Japan. “If we’d lost the war, General Curtis Lemay, and people like himself, would have been tried and executed as war criminals”, McNamara said, on camera, (in ‘Fog of War’), for their fire-bombing strategy that had incinerated as many as 3 million Japanese civilians, BEFORE we dropped the first of two nuclear bombs on them.

    Vonnegut wrote about our horrible war crime in Dresden, of course, which had no other purpose, (the ‘target’ had NO military value), other than to incinerate as many people as possible, and their entire city with them. Vonnegut describes how 500 lb bombs were dropped by the first waves, to create plenty of ‘kindling’, then tens of thousands of finger-sized incendiary devices, (like 4th of July sparklers), were sprinkled generously over the fresh kindling.

    The fires got so hot that automobiles, and other steel machinery, was either melted or just burned to ash. Nothing remained when the fires burned themselves out. There was no way to fight them, of course. They went out when they ran out of fuel. They went out when there was no flesh, or even steel, to burn.

    We got so good at it, so good at creating huge ‘firestorms’ to incinerate civilian men, women, children, and babies in their own homes, that as many as 100,000 people were killed in single raids on Tokyo’s residential neighborhoods, and on the residents of every Japanese city of any size. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were spared from the murderous firebombing, because they were being ‘saved’ for the nuclear attacks, (neither of which killed as many as several of the firebomb raids had).

    6-10 million people. That’s how many this deadly ruthless Enemy, these Ruling Elites that now rule over our nation, and have openly stated that they intend to rule over the entire world, have killed, or directly caused the deaths of, since the end of WW2.

    Mr. Giraldi knows all this. How can he know all this, so perfectly well, while he so proudly ‘predicts’ what is already all around us? How can he know the facts that he knows, and still think these murderous ghoulish fiends, who openly state that killing 500,000 children is “worth it” to control the Middle East for Israel, care at ALL about the writing on an old piece of wrinkled parchment?

    The coming bloodbath has been, and continues to be, perfectly ‘set up’. If Trump is dumb enough to run in ’24, it’ll be him in the center of a spreading red pool. They’ll grab an Antifa goon off his barstool in Brooklyn, to play the Oswald/Sirhan role.

    Trump’s murder will ‘set it off’. The street gutters will run red.

    When the orange glow in the night sky is only a couple blocks away, the public then will not merely tolerate martial law. They will DEMAND it!

They were laying plans for the use of Mass Media before TV was actually rolled out. A propaganda portal directly into every home. Orwell saw it. So did Marcuse, and his buddies, Wild Bill Donovan, and Allen Dulles.

    The events we are witnessing are the culmination of brilliant and long laid plans. The whole thing, the genders wars, race wars, the destruction of the cultural fabric, the shredding of the nation’s deepest values, was being planned, over cigars and old whiskey, before WW2 even ended.

    I was born in ’48. I first saw the famous portrait of Ukrainian Nazi hero Stepan Bandera in the basement of the Ukrainian Orthodox church in Jamaica Plain, Boston. I was 16, and a local roofer named Romanchuk pulled it out of his wallet. I was being recruited.

    The CIA was importing Bandera’s followers in the days immediately following WW2. They were helping Ukrainian Nazis immigrate into the US, and get settled in jobs, and living among communities of Ukrainian immigrants.

    What we now see happening now in Ukraine is the culmination of plans laid before WW2 had ended.

    When the public DEMANDS martial law, people like Phil Giraldi won’t even be able to send a email.
