When I first went to Palestine as a young reporter in the 1960s, I stayed on a kibbutz. The people I met were hard-working, spirited and called themselves socialists. I liked them.
One evening at dinner, I asked about the silhouettes of people in the far distance, beyond our perimeter.
“Arabsâ€, they said, “nomadsâ€. The words were almost spat out. Israel, they said, meaning Palestine, had been mostly wasteland and one of the great feats of the Zionist enterprise was to turn the desert green.
They gave as an example their crop of Jaffa oranges, which was exported to the rest of the world. What a triumph against the odds of nature and humanity’s neglect.
It was the first lie. Most of the orange groves and vineyards belonged to Palestinians who had been tilling the soil and exporting oranges and grapes to Europe since the eighteenth century. The former Palestinian town of Jaffa was known by its previous inhabitants as “the place of sad orangesâ€.
On the kibbutz, the word “Palestinian†was never used. Why, I asked. The answer was a troubled silence.
All over the colonised world, the true sovereignty of indigenous people is feared by those who can never quite cover the fact, and the crime, that they live on stolen land.
Denying people’s humanity is the next step – as the Jewish people know only too well. Defiling people’s dignity and culture and pride follows as logically as violence.
In Ramallah, following an invasion of the West Bank by the late Ariel Sharon in 2002, I walked through streets of crushed cars and demolished houses, to the Palestinian Cultural Centre. Until that morning, Israeli soldiers had camped there.
I was met by the centre’s director, the novelist, Liana Badr, whose original manuscripts lay scattered and torn across the floor. The hard drive containing her fiction, and a library of plays and poetry had been taken by Israeli soldiers. Almost everything was smashed, and defiled.
Not a single book survived with all its pages; not a single master tape from one of the best collections of Palestinian cinema.
The soldiers had urinated and defecated on the floors, on desks, on embroideries and works of art. They had smeared faeces on children’s paintings and written – in shit – “Born to killâ€.
Liana Badr had tears in her eyes, but she was unbowed. She said, “We will make it right again.â€
What enrages those who colonise and occupy, steal and oppress, vandalise and defile is the victims’ refusal to comply. And this is the tribute we all should pay the Palestinians. They refuse to comply. They go on. They wait – until they fight again. And they do so even when those governing them collaborate with their oppressors.
In the midst of the 2014 Israeli bombardment of Gaza, the Palestinian journalist Mohammed Omer never stopped reporting. He and his family were stricken; he queued for food and water and carried it through the rubble. When I phoned him, I could hear the bombs outside his door. He refused to comply.
Mohammed’s reports, illustrated by his graphic photographs, were a model of professional journalism that shamed the compliant and craven reporting of the so-called mainstream in Britain and the United States. The BBC notion of objectivity – amplifying the myths and lies of authority, a practice of which it is proud – is shamed every day by the likes of Mohamed Omer.
For more than 40 years, I have recorded the refusal of the people of Palestine to comply with their oppressors: Israel, the United States, Britain, the European Union.
Since 2008, Britain alone has granted licences for export to Israel of arms and missiles, drones and sniper rifles, worth £434 million.
Those who have stood up to this, without weapons, those who have refused to comply, are among Palestinians I have been privileged to know:
My friend, the late Mohammed Jarella, who toiled for the United Nations agency UNRWA, in 1967 showed me a Palestinian refugee camp for the first time. It was a bitter winter’s day and schoolchildren shook with the cold. “One day …†he would say. “One day …â€
Mustafa Barghouti, whose eloquence remains undimmed, who described the tolerance that existed in Palestine among Jews, Muslims and Christians until, as he told me, “the Zionists wanted a state at the expense of the Palestinians.â€
Dr. Mona El-Farra, a physician in Gaza, whose passion was raising money for plastic surgery for children disfigured by Israeli bullets and shrapnel. Her hospital was flattened by Israeli bombs in 2014.
Dr. Khalid Dahlan, a psychiatrist, whose clinics for children in Gaza — children sent almost mad by Israeli violence — were oases of civilization.
Fatima and Nasser are a couple whose home stood in a village near Jerusalem designated “Zone A and Bâ€, meaning that the land was declared for Jews only. Their parents had lived there; their grandparents had lived there. Today, the bulldozers are laying roads for Jews only, protected by laws for Jews only.
It was past midnight when Fatima went into labour with their second child. The baby was premature; and when they arrived at a checkpoint with the hospital in view, the young Israeli soldier said they needed another document.
Fatima was bleeding badly. The soldier laughed and imitated her moans and told them, “Go homeâ€. The baby was born there in a truck. It was blue with cold and soon, without care, died from exposure. The baby’s name was Sultan.
For Palestinians, these will be familiar stories. The question is: why are they not familiar in London and Washington, Brussels and Sydney?
In Syria, a recent liberal cause — a George Clooney cause — is bankrolled handsomely in Britain and the United States, even though the beneficiaries, the so-called rebels, are dominated by jihadist fanatics, the product of the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and the destruction of modern Libya.
And yet, the longest occupation and resistance in modern times is not recognized. When the United Nations suddenly stirs and defines Israel as an apartheid state, as it did this year, there is outrage – not against a state whose “core purpose†is racism but against a UN commission that dared break the silence.
“Palestine,†said Nelson Mandela, “is the greatest moral issue of our time.â€
Why is this truth suppressed, day after day, month after month, year after year?
On Israel – the apartheid state, guilty of a crime against humanity and of more international law-breaking than any other– the silence persists among those who know and whose job it is to keep the record straight.
On Israel, so much journalism is intimidated and controlled by a groupthink that demands silence on Palestine while honourable journalism has become dissidence: a metaphoric underground.
A single word – “conflict†– enables this silence. “The Arab-Israeli conflictâ€, intone the robots at their tele-prompters. When a veteran BBC reporter, a man who knows the truth, refers to “two narrativesâ€, the moral contortion is complete.
There is no conflict, no two narratives, with their moral fulcrum. There is a military occupation enforced by a nuclear-armed power backed by the greatest military power on earth; and there is an epic injustice.
The word “occupation†may be banned, deleted from the dictionary. But the memory of historical truth cannot be banned: of the systemic expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland. “Plan D†the Israelis called it in 1948.
The Israeli historian Benny Morris describes how David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, was asked by one of his generals: “What shall we do with the Arabs?â€
The prime minister, wrote Morris, “made a dismissive, energetic gesture with his handâ€. “Expel them!†he said.
Seventy years later, this crime is suppressed in the intellectual and political culture of the West. Or it is debatable, or merely controversial. Highly-paid journalists and eagerly accept Israeli government trips, hospitality and flattery, then are truculent in their protestations of independence. The term, “useful idiotsâ€, was coined for them.
In 2011, I was struck by the ease with which one of Britain’s most acclaimed novelists, Ian McEwan, a man bathed in the glow of bourgeois enlightenment, accepted the Jerusalem Prize for literature in the apartheid state.
Would McEwan have gone to Sun City in apartheid South Africa? They gave prizes there, too, all expenses paid. McEwan justified his action with weasel words about the independence of “civil societyâ€.
Propaganda – of the kind McEwan delivered, with its token slap on the wrists for his delighted hosts – is a weapon for the oppressors of Palestine. Like sugar, it insinuates almost everything today.
Understanding and deconstructing state and cultural propaganda is our most critical task. We are being frog-marched into a second cold war, whose eventual aim is to subdue and balkanise Russia and intimidate China.
When Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke privately for more than two hours at the G20 meeting in Hamburg, apparently about the need not to go to war with each other, the most vociferous objectors were those who have commandeered liberalism, such as the Zionist political writer of the Guardian.
“No wonder Putin was smiling in Hamburg,†wrote Jonathan Freedland. “He knows he has succeeded in his chief objective: he has made America weak again.†Cue the hissing for Evil Vlad.
These propagandists have never known war but they love the imperial game of war. What Ian McEwan calls “civil society†has become a rich source of related propaganda.
Take a term often used by the guardians of civil society — “human rightsâ€. Like another noble concept, “democracyâ€, “human rights†has been all but emptied of its meaning and purpose.
Like “peace process†and “road mapâ€, human rights in Palestine have been hijacked by Western governments and the corporate NGOs they fund and which claim a quixotic moral authority.
So when Israel is called upon by governments and NGOs to “respect human rights†in Palestine, nothing happens, because they all know there is nothing to fear; nothing will change.
Mark the silence of the European Union, which accommodates Israel while refusing to maintain its commitments to the people of Gaza — such as keeping the lifeline of the Rafah border crossing open: a measure it agreed to as part of its role in the cessation of fighting in 2014. A seaport for Gaza – agreed by Brussels in 2014 – has been abandoned.
The UN commission I have referred to – its full name is the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia — described Israel as, and I quote, “designed for the core purpose†of racial discrimination.
Millions understand this. What the governments in London, Washington, Brussels and Tel Aviv cannot control is that humanity at street level is changing perhaps as never before.
People everywhere are stirring and are more aware, in my view, than ever before. Some are already in open revolt. The atrocity of Grenfell Tower in London has brought communities together in a vibrant almost national resistance.
Thanks to a people’s campaign, the judiciary is today examining the evidence of a possible prosecution of Tony Blair for war crimes. Even if this fails, it is a crucial development, dismantling yet another barrier between the public and its recognition of the voracious nature of the crimes of state power – the systemic disregard for humanity perpetrated in Iraq, in Grenfell Tower, in Palestine. Those are the dots waiting to be joined.
For most of the 21st century, the fraud of corporate power posing as democracy has depended on the propaganda of distraction: largely on a cult of “me-ism†designed to disorientate our sense of looking out for others, of acting together, of social justice and internationalism.
Class, gender and race were wrenched apart. The personal became the political and the media the message. The promotion of bourgeois privilege was presented as “progressive†politics. It wasn’t. It never is. It is the promotion of privilege, and power.
Among young people, internationalism has found a vast new audience. Look at the support for Jeremy Corbyn and the reception the G20 circus in Hamburg received. By understanding the truth and imperatives of internationalism, and rejecting colonialism, we understand the struggle of Palestine.
Mandela put it this way: “We know only too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.â€
At the heart of the Middle East is the historic injustice in Palestine. Until that is resolved, and Palestinians have their freedom and homeland, and Israelis are Palestinians equality before the law, there will be no peace in the region, or perhaps anywhere.
What Mandela was saying is that freedom itself is precarious while powerful governments can deny justice to others, terrorise others, imprison and kill others, in our name. Israel certainly understands the threat that one day it might have to be normal.
That is why its ambassador to Britain is Mark Regev, well known to journalists as a professional propagandist, and why the “huge bluff†of charges of anti-Semitism, as Ilan Pappe called it, was allowed to contort the Labour Party and undermine Jeremy Corbyn as leader. The point is, it did not succeed.
Events are moving quickly now. The remarkable Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions campaign (BDS) is succeeding, day by day; cities and towns, trade unions and student bodies are endorsing it. The British government’s attempt to restrict local councils from enforcing BDS has failed in the courts.
These are not straws in the wind. When the Palestinians rise again, as they will, they may not succeed at first — but they will eventually if we understand that they are us, and we are them.
This is an abridged version of John Pilger’s address to the Palestinian Expo in London on 8 July, 2017. John Pilger’s film, ‘Palestine Is Still the Issue’, can be viewed here.
John Pilger can be reached through his website: www.johnpilger.com
I applaud John Pilger on focusing on this issue. Please check out these photos that will never made it to the MSM.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
They’re just Arabs for Christ’s sake.
While Israel’s pernicious influence in Western countries must be opposed, it shouldn’t be because of the suffering of Arabs.
I’ll concede that perhaps we should do something for the Palestinian Christians and in particular holy sites like Bethlehem, but not a finger should be lifted for the Mohammedan population. Mohammedans are not only our enemies but are an objectively inferior population.
That is pathological altruism and will lead to the extinction of our race unless finally suppressed.
In some ways this is a step in the right direction, but it’s far too kind to Jews, and too harsh to everyone else.
North America, for example, was before European contact inhabited by Stone Age savages, fierce warriors and hunters who would as soon rape, enslave, torture, mutilate, and murder you as say hello.
Palestine was inhabited by farmers, laborers, merchants, etc.
North American natives were warrior tribes who lived by right of conquest. Not only did they live by right of conquest up until European contact, they lived by right of conquest throughout the period of European conquest. Indian tribes routinely allied themselves with Europeans to fight other Indian tribes, Europeans, or coalitions of both.
Palestine was a civilized region with private property & chain of ownership.
Europeans colonized North America in a time when such behavior was widely deemed acceptable.
Human sacrifice was common among American Indians.
It was unknown among Palestinians.
Jews colonized Palestine at a time when the age of colonialism was long past; within a generation, Jewish scholarship would be in lockstep with the anti-colonial narrative (except vis-a-vis their own colonialism in Israel), Jews would be all-in protesting the Vietnam War, etc.
Indian resistance to European conquest ended more than a century ago.
Palestinians are pretty clear that they want their shit back, and won’t be happy until they get it.
And all this after the holocaust, which Jews have never stopped harping on.
There’s really no such comparison to be made between the two.
This will be persuasive when I can say “they’re just blacks, for Christ’s sake” around American Jews without controversy. And not before.
I’ll continue to criticize Jews for their hypocrisy until they stop strangling white ethnopatriotism in its crib, stop enforcing their hypocritical PC double standards, stop constituting the vanguard of the open borders movement in America, etc., etc., etc.
Altruism my ass, this is ethnic warfare.
My Latin master was formerly the Senior British Sergeant for the Palestine Police in Ramallah up to 1947. He was quite clear that Arab villagers did nothing more than defend themselves against Zionist groups who were deliberately terrorizing them. Terrorism was one sided in Palestine. He singled out the Stern Gang for special mention as terrorists even after Stern himself was shot while escaping custody (not on his watch – in winter 40/41, Stern, a Nazi attempted to do a deal with the German Embassy in Turkey, somewhat threatening to oil supplies when only the UK was at war with Germany). Every time he arrested them, instructions would come from London (ultimately from New York in his opinion) to release them without charges. He didn’t like Begin either, although he was pro Israel during the 1967 war. He did think that the Jews who had entered legally and bought land honestly (not always the case – boundaries between villages were poorly defined) had a right to be there.
Criticizing Jewish hypocrisy is fine. I’m even okay with cynically supporting BDS as a tactical move.
But actually caring about Arab Mohammedans is ridiculous.
The atrocity of Grenfell Tower in London has brought communities together in a vibrant almost national resistance.
I agree that Palestinians got a bum rap, and the only real solution is the Priss Plan: Send all Jews in W. Bank to Israel and send all Arabs in Israel to W. Bank. Like the population swap between India and Pakistan(that didn’t go far enough as there are still too many Muslims in India).
And send the bogus African ‘Jews’ back to Ethiopia. Only nationalism and increased homogeneity can fix this.
It’s like Kosovo. Sad for the Serbs, but the only workable solution was to make it virtually all Albanian.
Anyway, where Pilger is utterly bogus is in calling for the Palestinianization of indigenous Britons.
The darkies told the Brit imperialists to go home. So, they went home. So, why must Britain now be colonized by immigrant-marauders and invaders? How can Pilger denounce Zionist takeover of Palestine but then endorse Afro-Islamic takeover of UK?
Grenfell Tower of Bable is the result of demographic imperialism by the ghastly Muslims and Africans. It is a form of Occupation.
Calling the burning of Grenfell Tower an atrocity reduces the persuasiveness of the whole article by at least half.
Thor, I barely read the comments you made & that I “responded” too. I think I must’ve been on my way out the door or something.
Nothing is solved by making ANYTHING all Albanian. You should live in the Balkans to understand this better. These people should all be thrown out of Europe, especially now they’re more than 90 percent Muslim (although Bosnian Muslims ARE at least 2 levels of civilized above Albanians).
Fascinating.
I was under the impression that the majority of Palestinians had become fed up with the Grand Mufti’s clique and were indeed more peaceably inclined in the forties than they had been when Charles Tegart suppressed them with his Alsatian dogs.
I recall reading- I think in Joan Littlewood’s memoirs- that there was a brief backlash after the bombing of the King David Hotel by Begin. However, horror at the holocaust counter balanced this. In any case, most of the Israeli Right wing had helped defeat German plans in Iraq and- I believe- also their machinations in Afghanistan aimed at India.
Taking a longer view, Zionism doesn’t look so out of place in the region. We think of Herzl as a European but the truth is he was accommodating himself to the Ottoman way of doing things. For example, he kept silent about the Armenian genocide- I believe the only one of his associates to do so- to curry favour with Abdul Hamid. But the pattern of dispossession in Palestine is something that had always been going on- indeed, is still going on.
I suppose Israel is different from its neighbours in one startling particular- vz. its Army seems to be able to actually raise productivity rather than crowd out beneficial investment.
However, it has its own demographic time bomb involving the ultra orthodox and over time might blend in better with its neighbours.
Your right. Comparing Palestine to the Americas and Australia is absurd. Oranges and apples.
First of all, this is article is unreadably bad. But I want to address the above point:
Russia had no right to dispossess the indigenous inhabitants of Siberia, the Euros had no right to do the same to the same in the Americas and Australia but the Land of Israel is a completely different situation. Comparing the totally unjust colonial conquests of the past with Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel is outrageous.
The entire world belongs to The Creator. He reserved the Land of Israel for his Chosen People. Yes, the Palestinians have been living in the Land of Israel since time immemorial* but that ignores the fact that they never had the right to be there in the first place. The Land was given to the Jews 4000 years ago by G-d at which point the indigenous inhabitants where required to accept Jewish rule or depart.
An unlawful squatter does not have the right to cry foul when the rightful owner of a property evicts him.
But all this is beside the point. In this article we hear not just praise of the totally worthless Palestinian people, but also a promise that they will eventually be able to take the Land of Israel from the rightful Jewish owners. I have been hearing this nonsense my entire life from Palestinian lovers, but what I never hear is “when” or “how”?
I have pointed this out to the retards here many times, but I will do so again:
1. Israel has 150 nuclear warheads on hand and produces an additional 3 every year.
2. Israel has a stronger technological base than the entire Arab/Islamic world combined.
3. The Arab/Islamic world is second only to African blacks in military ineptitude and have failed miserably every time they have attempted to challenge us on the open field. They resort to terrorism not just against the Jews, but against every adversary they ever face because they are incapable of fighting any other way.
So when are you going to destroy Israel? You have been talking about it since 1948 and all that has happened is that the Jews have continued to grow, to get stronger and to settle more of the Land, while that Palestinians continue to get squeezed, in the words of the late Raful Eitan, “like cockroaches in a bottle”. So far the pattern seems to be the more you talk about the imminent victory of the Palestinians, the more desperate their situation becomes.
But a more important question, perhaps, is “how?”. The Arab Islamic world have already shown it isn’t up to militarily defeating Israel. It can’t even meaningfully retaliate when we slaughter Palestinians by the thousands or kill their leaders and scientists. So really you would need an outside force to take the Land of Israel. Western Europe is a military joke, so they are out. The United States is less than 50 years from breaking apart so the US is out as well. China is a regional state that has never shown any interest whatsoever in the plight of the Palestinians.
So that leaves Russia. But Russia can’t even get back Syria for their client Assad. The Russian people also have never demonstrated any interest at all in the Palestinians. And even if Russia were to develop the military capability AND the interest to conquer the Land of Israel, exactly how many of their population centers would they be willing to sacrifice in order to do so? We already have 150 nuclear warheads, that number will be 250 minimum (probably double that as Israel looks to expand it’s nuclear program with additional reactors) in 30 years which is the earliest possible time Russia would be ready to militarily challenge Israel. The loss of 250 of Russia’s largest cities would end Russia as a functioning state: is your thesis that the Russian people are willing to essentially commit suicide so that the Palestinians can resume their illegal squatting in Jewish land?
You love the Palestinians and that’s fine. You think, or at least pretend to think, that the Palestinians will eventually take the country back and that’s fine too. But you owe it to non retards who have had to listen to your bullshit for more than half a century now exactly when and how the Palestinians will achieve such a victory.
*Pretty much every serious Jewish scholar admits as much. Saying that the Jews claim that the Land was uninhabited prior to our return is a straw man when only a few extremist idiots who nobody pays any mind actually do make such a claim.
Indeed, it’s wake-up time.
And it’s all enabled by the biggest, sleaziest hoax ever.
The ‘6M Jews, 5M others, & gas chambers’ …. which are scientifically impossible frauds.
see the ‘holocaust’ scam debunked here:
http://codoh.com
No name calling, level playing field debate here:
http://forum.codoh.com
The ‘holocaust’ narrative doesn’t hold up to scrutiny so the usual enemies of free speech call for more anti free speech laws, more censorship.
The ‘holocaust’ storyline is one of the most easily debunked narratives ever contrived. That is why those who question it are arrested and persecuted. That is why violent, racist, & privileged Jewish supremacists demand censorship. What sort of truth is it that denies free speech and the freedom to seek the truth? Truth needs no protection from scrutiny.
I agree.
Pilger is drinking the Marxist Kool Aid and will shoot himself and his excellent observations about the true evils of Zionism in the foot if he continues that approach.
The Grenfell Tower fire was caused by the moronic Left / Green insistence of using flammable materials as cladding on the building.

You obviously know nothing about N American Indians.
I suggest you begin with reading
⦠Paul Kane, ‘Wanderings of an artist among the Indians of America’, 1859, 1996, New York
It is not just the tragedy of the Palestinians since 1948, it is the Israeli power politics around Israel.
As senator Hollings stated in 2004, Bush jr promised AIPAC to attack Iraq, in order to get the jewish vote.
In order to get a pretext he organised Sept 11.
Between the Moslems and the Jews, they’ve mainly been driven out, from both Israel and its occupied territories in Palestine.
The tiny portion listed in Israel itself, tiny fraction of one percent, sounds like just the clericals in the sacred sites,
In the occupied territories, too, they are driven out.
I am a Christian, but only to accepting some books of the OT, except as entertaining stories, and the wiser ones by Hellenized Jews, the whole ‘judaeo-christian’ idea is a lie, also of recent manufacture. Did not exist pre-C19, not in current form until post-1948.
Now why may that be?
An interesting point.
Please bear with me.
There WAS a quite workable solution being implemented there before the “Merciful Angel” kicked in.
And, that’s one of puzzling and amusing things one gets when chatting on the Web.
Why THAT solution is seen as “unworkable”, “impossible”, “simply not realistic” etc?
That’s relating to the current influx of …….”migrants”……….in the Europe.
Ha…ha….how about this (just a joke…..a joke…)?
The European West hires the Serb veterans from wars in former Yugoslavia and just tasks them with ………relocating………”migrants”…………..back.
Say, just put the vets together and give them German logistical support.
I am positive they’d organize themselves in three days tops.
Give them one month…………………………….
Would it work?
I find it hard to get misty-eyed for Palestinians or Israelis, but a lot of what you think of as “Palestine” was the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah three millenia ago. In the same way Spain is looked upon as an occupied land to one day be retaken, Israel is just lost land that was re-taken. To the comment above about Australia and the US being a different story, they are indeed different, because they were outright conquests … not that there is anything wrong with that.
I must be adding psalms, many from ancient Egypt, and parts of the early parts, from ancient Sumeria.
Hell, it was Greeks that codified the OT, Jews later made their own version in response to Christianity, with twists of phrasing.
Personally, I am a Marcionite, I believe that his original canon was the most authentic, not least because the earliest, and he rejected the OT.
Not that I don’t like other parts of the NT canon. It is claimed that Marcion redacted parts of his slim collection, I strongly believe that the opposite is the case, they were the pure versions, of those in his canon, the later versions had interpolations to set up OT connections.
Pilger makes many good points at times, but is a boring non-stop Jeremiad much of the time now.
However, I would rate this one as at least 3/4 great and informative. The other quarter or so …
Still, a good pick by Ron Unz.
“The remarkable Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions campaign (BDS) is succeeding”
I guess someone forgot to tell this to Indian PM Modi who was just in Israel and agreed to buy billions of dollars worth of Israeli weapons, hi tech and agricultural products.
Great article if maybe one or two paragraphs to long for the AADD addled like me.
Great quote.
Well the Indians and the Zionists have one thing in common, the same enemy. But this too will pass. Modi is becoming a bigger and bigger ass hole with each passing day. Kashmir valley is Pakistani!! (Grin)
You make no sense you Zionist troll.
Greasy scuzz ball Zionist kikenvermin hasbara-ist. Wow, I outdid myself, lol.
The Palestinians will regain their dignity from the alien invaders sooner or later. Military might and the control of America will not be enough for the Zionist Beast to prevail. The ‘will’ of the Palestinians not to succumb and the fact that they are on the right side of history, and the truth, will prevail. The Zionist Entity will also disintegrate from within as many who have a conscience will not be able to support the regime and others will just abandon it or even fight against it. Palestine will be reborn where Muslims, Jews and most importantly Christians will live in harmony. Jesus will see to this, you Christ killing vermin.
….Or, the Zionists will win unconditionally and destroy all pretense of the moral authority of the West and will bring on Armageddon and then the Second Coming will occur and you Zionist vermin will lose anyway. So either way you lose since you are the cursed children of the Devil.
In a utopian world the Muslims and Jews would be separated from the Christians and whites, in their own nations or ghettos whatever, unfortunately that doesn’t exist. We can’t even return those vermin coming from west Africa in creaky boats from landing in Europe, geesh!
But…we have to start somewhere…(wry grin).
What have you been smoking! George W. Bush could organise 9/11???
And tell us about “the Jewish vote”. Just name one state where the Jewish vote got George W. Bush over the line and was counted on to do so? Did I hear a squeak about Florida? Tell us about the Jewish vote there and what their issues were. Hey guys, remember that BBQ in Miami where Governor Bush said “i want to tell y’all – oh sorry that’s Texas speaking – that right at the top of my agenda will be no more foreign adventures except there’s my Pappy’s unfinished business in Iraq”.
Isn’t BDS about products of the West Bank?
Thank you to Mr. Pilger and to Mr. Unz for providing antidotes to the suppresion.
Bless you!
Not to worry about altruism, pathological or otherwise. We’re more likely to become extinct because of our willful denial of the truth, consistent support for the lies, consistent betrayal of our true friends and lack of true altruism.
As to your claim that Mohammedans are not only our enemies but are an objectively inferior population, you may want to chew on this for a while.
The US betrayed its allies, the Arab peoples, just as it betrayed the Philippine freedom fighters 20 years previously.
Fortunately John Pilger tends to offer some protection against the temptation to take his emotionally eloquent best writing too seriously. As already noted his reference to the Grenfell Tower scandal serves that purpise. But
maybe he is on the side of history. Australia’s former Labor Foreign Minister Bob Carr, though once a senior figure in the Labor Friends of Israel, has recently got Labor’s biggest state branch to vote for recognition of Palestine.
Nicely done John Pilger.
Palestine is not “Still the issue” it is THE ISSUE. Palestine is the moral Crux upon which the future of Humanity flows.
From the first recorded (or celebrated) Holocaust, (and that was committed by the early Jews), that of Jericho, where every man, woman, child, every living thing, was executed, in a Land thieving operation. As the song goes… “Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, and the walls came tumbling down!” To the domination of the history (and finances) of humankind, (specially since 1815), the moral centrality of Palestine is ever more evident.
[By way of slight digression, in Hollywood’s highly touted “Independence Day” movie, the only religion mentioned (and favorably depicted), is that of the Jews. With the planet facing extinction from foreign alien invaders, there is nary a mention of Christian, Moslem, or any of the world’s major (and all but gutted) religions. Hollywood and the rest of the media, in movie after movie, and TV, and written format, there is only one world religion and that is…]
If you cannot face (and internalize), the ethnic cleansing – genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinians, and by extension, the Arab nations, you are as morally decayed as Hitler, LB Johnson, Stalin, Killery and Wm. Clintons, Bushes, Obombers, Casino Trump, Netenyahoo, and the Rothschilds, and the other ruling Oligarchs.
I am not an anti-Semite. I like Arabs.
Arabs are Semites, most Jews are not (read your Koestler). The actual anti-Semites are the Zionist Land Thieves, and their American and European servants. They hate the Semites and destroy their lands and denigrate their history. The distortion of language is one of the key points made by Orwell, in his 1984, which opens the door to totalitarian control of people’s minds.
We Americans must show our Love of Nation and Restore our Republic, which was destroyed by the MOSSAD Rothschilds and other puppet Oligarchs on November 22, 1963. Our last Constitutional President, John F. Kennedy, was drowned in a hail of bullets as he did his best to defend our Republic.
We did not understand what had occurred. Millions of Vietnamese, Indonesians, Latin Americans, Arabs, and Africans have paid a high price since then. Americans have also suffered. We have declined as a people. The way forward is clear.
Where do people get such idiotic ideas?
I would advise that you read about what Christopher Columbus found there. Pay particular attention to the Taino and Arawaks. I will grant you that the Caribs and some others probably fit your description, but the “Christian” Spaniards no doubt raised the ante somewhat. How do you think those rabid beasts subdued and enslaved large portions of the populations of both N and S America?
Uri Avnery’s book, “1948,” makes the same point. He was a soldier then and saw it (actually participated in it) first hand. I have no reason to doubt either his sincerity or his credibility and what he describes in positively chilling.
For the US money bag crowd to support these monsters and for anyone to make excuses for it is well beyond redemption.
That agreement has long ago became null and void since it was based on the idea that “His People” would behave themselves according to his directives.
However, they were forever screwing up and that “covenant” was nullified repeatedly, so he kicked them out repeatedly.
He’ll most probably do it again. And again. Only the timing is in doubt.
I, too, lived, for a time, on an Israeli kibbutz in the sixties. The land on which the kibbutz was situated had been purchased from the Ottoman Turkish administration prior to World War I. They had the title in Turkish and in Arabic.
The kibbutzniks referred to their Arab neighbors as Druze, Bedouin and “Arab” (Aravim) because the word “Palestinian” (Filasteen) had not yet come into use. Yasser Arafat and his associates were only then beginning to organize the PLO, and the Palestinian national consciousness was only then in the process of formation.
In Tel Aviv (Jaffa if you will,) I was having coffee with an “Arab” who spoke to me about the “nakba” and the “Arabs” (his term) who had fled to Jordan. “If we weren’t being kicked around by the Jews, the world wouldn’t give a shit about us.”
Which, as Mr. Pilger well knows, is as true today as it was then.
Off topic don’t you think? You forgot to mention that in the USA and Canada the Indians are paid for the lands taken from them. I don’t mean what happened 300 years ago, but today.
The tribes get their own lands, their own governments on those lands and every Indian gets checks from the government. The tribal governments get billions a year which they administer themselves.
It’s basically a perpetual mortgage payment for the Indian lands that were conquered centuries ago. There are more Indians today than there were in 1500.
The Spanish solved the problem by giving everyone equal rights and intermarriage.
Again, totally off topic. You are right that the Palestinians are more civilized than the American Indians were 400 years ago.
There are plenty of sites where your post is more germane to the topic.
Priss inserts his or her ignorance into every topic. He she doesn’t even know the most basic facts about human reproduction but rants and raves about that continually no matter what the topic.
You are right that Albanians are the very worst bandit human trafficking tribe of vicious pimps on earth.
Sounds like a common attitude. In fact, no one gave a shit about the common Jews until the Zio-gangsters hijacked their victimhood for their own benefit, of course.
In fact, I doubt anyone would give much of a shit about the ME or anyplace else (banksters and their Zion musclemen included), if there weren’t resources such as oil there.
Which, as everyone should know, is as true today as it was then.
How do they rate for organ trafficking? Or trafficking in military hardware? Or narcotics? Or debt trafficking?
Go ahead punk …
If the ruskies got even half-a-dozen of theirs off, accurately, the whole of Eretz Israel would melt and dribble into the Med. Those boys don’t give a monkey’s about collateral (a.k.a. Palestinians). Or God, come to that, you pharisaical vowel-skimping blusterer. You spongers only survive economically due to perpetual extortion of Americans and Germans. How much longer will they put up with that?
No one gives a rat’s ass about the plight of the hapless “Palestinians” at the hands of the vile bloodthirsty avaricious jooies………..just destroy the muzzies on your own shekel with your own goons and leave us American taxpayers out of it.
Mr. Petras,
Palestine is NOT the issue for powerful U.S. non-orthodox (diaspora) Jews. And the most warlike people on the planet, the Neoconservatives, are determined to keep putting lipstick on an apartheid swine.
Thanks!
Give them Palestine today, they’ll want al-Andalus tomorrow. Why wouldn’t they? It’s human nature.
And noticing it isn’t “trollery”.
Because when you off the Other, rather than your Own, it isn’t much of a sacrifice, is it?
Ask the Copts how much Mohammedan Araby cares about them.
” Just name one state where the Jewish vote got George W. Bush over the line and was counted on to do so?”
That’s easy, New York.
Next.
Wally,
Why did the Grenfell Tower burn so long & avoided disintegration into its footprint like the three W.T.C. towers?
9-11 “mastermind,” K.S.M., must have counted upon a more flammable brand of steel used to construct the W.T.C. towers?
The 19 Arab hijackers were fortunate to not have to contend with more fire resistant steel like that common to Grenfell Tower.
Perhaps Sheffield steel was used @ Grenfell? Could such product withstand the “cladding” heat of the combustible Greens?
Grenfell Tower did not collapse into its footprint. Contrast this reality with the three W.T.C. tower collapses and “We have a problem, Houston.”
Gore won NY in 2000; Kerry won it in 2004.
Bush 41 lost NY in 1988.
You’re wrong.
If by chance Spain surrenders to the Muslim hordes, which I doubt will happen, it would be their fault.
Comparing Palestine to the Spanish Reconquista was clever but specious and can be easily turned around. The Palestinians will regain their stolen, occupied lands.
The road to ME peace goes thru Palestine. You can cloak the savage and brutal Israel rape of Palestine under as many OT Bible quotes as you like, the fact remains that the large majority of the Israelis living on stolen land ARE NOT JEWS, nor did they descend from Jews, as DNA studies have shown.
How any American can support that racist state of Hate, Israel, which has attacked the USA numerous times, like the cowardly attack on the USS Liberty, their involvement in the 1983 Marines barrack bombing in Lebanon, their 2000 ‘October Surprise’ attack against the USS Cole and their masterminding of the heinous 9/11 False Flag is beyond me.
http://www.911history.de/aaannxyz_ch01_en.html
If he promised them to attack Iraq gain the Jewish vote he got swindled. How about Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties vote in 2000? Wasn’t those the places were late absentee ballots post marked Israel were vounted and overseas military ballots were voided?
But he was a sap, so he probably did make such a bargain.
But you are obviously a bloody troll.
He made a deal with the big boys, the Billionaires Boy club of donors and the MSM to control the message and not be totally in the can for first Gore and then Kerry (Lurch). He followed his own script to an extent but aided and abetted and then ruined by the excesses of the rabid Zionists around him. But that kept him from attack from the owned media until after he was reelected. He succeeded in that.
Well than, what was wrong with the Euroean conquest of Africa in the 19th century, didn’t we all originate from there?
That is pathological altruism and will lead to the extinction of our race unless finally suppressed.
Thorfinnson,
Respecting life is not altruism – it is Christian living.
The Palestinians were never renowned warriors – Muslim, Christian, and Jew – they had a civil society that traded with Europe for centuries.
It is the Jew squatters who are the evil ones – you need to get your priorities straight.
Christians protect the weak and oppressed – period.
Peace — Art
So those words spoken in resentment justify apartheid, torture, squatting, summery killing, non-judicial detention, and Gaza attacks – on the part of the Jew Matrix?
NOT!
Peace — Art
p.s. We in America are paying a high price for the theft of Palestine – our very freedom, our culture, and our democracy are now in the hands of the Jew Matrix.
I guess someone forgot to tell this to Indian PM Modi who was just in Israel and agreed to buy billions of dollars worth of Israeli weapon
The Jew Matrix produces more arms per capita then any other tribe on the planet.
You must be proud.

This is why Whites in Europe will not survive.
Like blacks, whites can never get beyond the pulls of divide and conquer. So whites will always be the slave to their Jewish masters who know how to pull the strings.
The people who call themselves Jews today aren’t the same people who were designated as the Chosen People.
They come from Eastern Europe and took over Judaisim. So no, the current inhabitants aren’t entitled to anything.
wow, I never thought christians were so easily duped into believing in the holy land bullshit.
that is freaking ingenious on the part of the israelis.
holy land, holy people 🙂 damn, that is why they are untouchable in american media and politics 🙂 this is too good. too many duped retards.
The European imperialism was justified as a liberal humanitarian project, that was also going to make its supporters wealthy. Sort of like the Clinton Foundation.
Now, there is a great deal to be noted as being wrong in the British conquest of the Boers. Outside of that issue, imperialism was unprofitable for Europe, and is the main reason why Africa’s population boomed to our detriment.
Cecil Rhodes cared far more about the African than any ruler since independence.

About the same time when the Cypriots and Armenians regain what the Turks took from them.
Excellent points. I’ve been to the Middle East and the Muslims are the worst. They have low IQs (because of Islamic black slavery/first cousin marriage). Israel’s influence must be expelled from the West. The best way to deal with this is to deal with the RCC/Zioevangizers. I believe in supporting Israel because Jews have to have their own nation. More than 1/2 of world Jewry now lives in Israel. We have to work on expelling the rest. And you are right that we have to help the Middle Eastern Christians (the Syrians/Lebanese/Iraqis. Most of the Egyptian Copts are black so I have no interest in them.) We need to set aside areas in the Middle East for them.
But as we focus and deal with the Jews in the West, we also have to deal with the blacks/Asians/Muslims in the West. The RCC/Zioevangizers are a huge problem because they believe in the “universal church,” “universal brotherhood, ” “Jews are the chosen people.” In the USA, the RCC/Zioevangizers are working with blacks/illegal aliens/Asians because so many Caucasians have left their churches. The Caucasians left because of the blacks/Asians. I was a cradle Catholic but left the RCC because I don’t accept black/Asian priests-popes. Many Caucasians are converting to the Orthodox church because the churches are racial/ethnic. The RCC/Zioevangiziers think that they can save the blacks/Asians. I also believe in IQ/evolution and know that nothing can be done with these people. If they want to be Christian, they have to have their own churches in their own countries. Also, we have to stress that the Jews are not the chosen. Today’s Jews are a miscegenated, meshuggah melange that have nothing to do with the West or Christianity or the Jews of the Old Testament.
– Except for “British” Moslems. You’re welcome.
Everything about the shittly little country is coated in lies.
” Today’s Jews are a miscegenated, meshuggah melange that have nothing to do with the West or Christianity or the Jews of the Old Testament.”
And if they were why would their vicious anti-white European actions be any better than they are?
The Grenfell Tower tragedy was a despicable case of councillors, council employees, and housing association staff claiming their salaries while not doing their jobs. This attitude is all too common in the British public sector.
If the writer seriously equates Grenfell Tower with Palestine, then he has lost his argument. Likewise, if he sees the events at the G20 as anything other than thuggery and looting.
Nevertheless, Palestine is indeed still an issue. The question is, what to actually do about it – and it would be interesting to hear John Pilger’s views on this.
Of course not. They would still be a problem and should not be in the West. They have nothing to do with the West. It is the RCC/Zioevangizers who give them their “power.”
And you’re just a POS descendent of the trashy Viking horde. You should be expelled!
Chosen people my blue-black arse. Self chosen rubbish is what you should say!
Not a trivial point so much as your only point. And I, an Australian, didn’t even have to check that Gore had won New York state by a huge margin (60 per cent to 35 per cent) to pose my challenge: it was common knowledge for any but the most complete ignoramus. How can you expect anyone to take anything you say seriously when you are as ignorant and/or careless as that?
Wally,
The new film, reprise of “Planet of the Apes,” has Holocaust symbolism but no Magilla bin Laden.
Well said. And I particularly agree about Hollywood and its portrayal of Jews. The blonde guy it’s always the idiot or bad guy. The Jewish runt always the savior and wins the white Anglo girl in the end. Hate Hollywood movies.
Extortion! Another name for Jews, along with shylocks!
The operative word being retards. Just watch Hagee’s TV show for a bit and its sooooo obvious!
Man, you are so wrong about Cecil Rhodes caring about Africans. The bastard was genocidal!
Hey Genius
Yep, damn proud of Israel’s arms industry.
If it wasn’t for Jewish brainpower the country wouldn’t exist.
Kinda like how you wouldn’t exist without PORK and beans.
Peace
Sherm
Average Palestinian IQ is 85. These people can do nothing. Israeli Jewish IQ is 93 and dropping. Islam is a Christian heresy. Muslims go to hell. Jews are under a Deicidal curse. But the big picture, these groups have no value to the West.
This Palestinian certainly had a higher IQ
Edward W. Said, ‘Orientalism, Western conceptions of the Orient’, 1978, 1991, London
Edward W. Said, ‘Culture and imperialism’, 1993, London

One of the really sick things about my support for Donald Trump is that I let his Zionism slide, and continue to do so. As a quasi civic nationalist, I support strengthening our borders by building a better barrier, and it’s been swell to say, “Israel has walls, and we should too!” But as a rationalist, it’s pretty hard to ignore the fact that Zionists have been exterminating the Palestinians since … 1900 at least, and anyone else in their quest for more “living room.” Frankly, I’ve just left my common sense by the wayside, because criticizing Israel in print hasn’t been exactly great for my career. Here in California, there have already been several attempts to stop any criticism of Zionism, so you can bet your ass I’m using a pseudonym.
3 Svigor > Palestine was a civilized region with private property & chain of ownership
amazing what good colonial supervision by the (non-Arab) Ottomans could accomplish

try selling that song-and-dance at the next Mimouna party.
I never ceased to be amazed at the all-knowing experts on Israel who have never once set foot in it.
No wonder Ron Unz got his ass kicked by girls in the California Senator race….
‘Enemy at the Gates’; They make the Russo-Aryan Jude Law fall for the ‘beautiful’ Russo-Jewish girl (Rachel Weisz) while battling the evil Nazi sniper played by Ed Harris. Predictable.
Good news the pro Zionist hack ‘Nutz’ McCain is in the hospital, the bad news is that he’s expected to recover, damn! Christ forgive me. (Smile)
There were a lot of Jews in Central and Eastern Europe, and then there weren’t. There were whole quarters of major cities full of Jews, and now there aren’t.
I have no doubt that accounts of the Holocaust have been sensationalised and exaggerated by its primary victims but which disaster isn’t?
I really don’t get what people like you are trying to say. That Poland still has a huge and thriving Jewish population? Or that it never did and a handful of Jews have somehow placed the bones of a mythological community in the ground to trick you?
Or maybe they disappeared into Stalinist and not exactly Jew-friendly Russia? Or sailed on an invisible flotilla to America and blended into a very well censused general population?
Scratching around at whether most were shot, gassed or worked to death really doesn’t matter. Sure traumatised people often lose track of reality when recounting the causes of their trauma but there are a heck of a lot of traumatised people, or rather there were, who were missing most of their family and lived normal lives in the West, consistent till the day they died.
Yep, damn proud of Israel’s arms industry.
If it wasn’t for Jewish brainpower the country wouldn’t exist.
Hi Sherm,
Hmm – how much brainpower does it take to steal other peoples productive secrets?
The Matrix does a good job of supplying Israel with the world’s industrial secrets.
Peace — Art
p.s. Really, how smart can a country be that does not eat Pork’n beans?
Edward Said was a Christian Arab. 85 is the average, but the Christian Arabs dominate at the 90+ IQ levels. That’s because they don’t practice first cousin marriage or black intermarriage. That’s why I can support the Christian Arabs of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and the Palestinian Christians. Muslims are genetic wastes.
Only if you believe all that “Out of Africa” crap. OTOH, if you believe the “We wuz Kings” crap, they deserved to be conquered for squandering their great civilisations, which the West was merely trying to recover from the jungles which did a far more thorough job of erasing any traces of ancient achievements than in any other place on earth.
Priceless Mr. Art priceless, I just had some the other day!! Thumbs up!
You must have come down in the last shower, or are under forty, to believe that anti Semite Pilger. Tom.
Hardly objective journalism – this is a completely one-sided, inaccurate propaganda piece. I would point out the many distortions, half-truths, and outright lies, but rather than addressing actual facts, I know I would be attacked – not in the mood for that. Facts apparently don’t matter any more; people looking that the Israel/Arab conflict believe what they want and ignore the rest. So, what does matter? What always matters – which side wins the war. In this case, the Arabs lost. Now they want to undue their failures by getting useful idiots to take their side with propaganda like this. Good luck with that! Lies only go so far; increasingly, no one cares about Arab failure and propaganda. History has moved on.
I hear that it’s a lot worse than first reported, so there’s still hope! (Wink)
Man, karma is going to bite me in the ass!
Forgive me Lord but I can’t help it, ‘Nutz’ McCain is a vile individual and his departure would be nothing but good for this country.
“God” is not a “real estate agent…the “state of Israel” is actually a “state of mind”. One could argue that the United States of America is “the new Israel” as our Constitutionally limited republic has been taken over by Zionist jews…
So what is untrue about what MR. Pilger has written. Seems right to me!
Zionism: 19th eugenics movement writ large; largely made up of colonistic xenophobes. Proof- the above commenter.
Because I don’t limit my anti-Semitism to a few beanie-tops in the West, but share it with the entire race of 400m or so?

This is the source of the incredible plan to reunite the two major Palestinian factions, to oust old Mahmoud Abbas (82), to recognise a puppet Palestinian state, and to install as its leader … General Mohammed Dahlan.
Mohammed Dahlan is the leader of Fatah who secretly became an Israëli agent, fought violently against Hamas, and then poisoned Yasser Arafat. Unmasked, he was excluded from Fatah, fled to Montenegro, and was found guilty in absentia. For the last few years, he has been living in the United Arab Emirates, where he enjoys a fortune of 120 million dollars misappropriated from the Palestinian Authority. He will supposedly be welcomed in Gaza by his historical enemies from Hamas, including the new « Prime Minister » Yahya Sinwar, whom, it transpires, is one of his childhood friends. Forgetting the past, he will be tasked with fighting the Army of Islam, in other words, the Palestinian branch of Daesh.
Thanks Mr. Pilger, for your great report.
Nothing. It is very much the truth… and that is what bothers the zionist trolls so much.
Given that so many lies are told about the Palestinians & about how Israel came into existence, the antidote is the truth.
Author Alison Weir, of “Against Our Better Judgment: The Hidden History of How the U.S. Was Used to Create Israel”, has written a nice summary of how the conflict originated & developed;

A few of the most pertinent quotes:
Biggest question: how far is The Lobby prepared to pull on the string before it snaps?
Hey Geo,
Every year I get surprised at what they are able to pull off. Eventually though, it might be that they hit up against some sort of a limitation in the form of a disastrous war where we lose an entire field army or some other thing where the market reaction to our policies causes something to collapse. I don’t know and I don’t necessarily hope for this either because of how many people the fallout would affect.
I’d rather we just learn our lesson, but their propaganda machine is insanely well-oiled. Remember what happened to Helen Thomas?
But I’m doing my (little) part – whenever my Jewish co-workers go to Israel and bring back goodies to the office – I abstain! Even on the chocolates!
Anyone can support Palestine by buying some of their products. A couple of ways are to:
1) Look online for “palestine products” – lot’s of options
2) Phone up your local Arabic store and ask if they carry products from Palestine
I just bought my daughter a nice band that was made in native Palestinian weave patterns. It won’t change the world, but it’ll help some people keep the lights on.
Peace.
There was no Israel during the the fall of Christian Constantinople, the Andalus, Battle of Lepanto, the Barbary pirates, etc. Don’t let those guys fool you into thinking that’s the main issue.
Muslims are land-grabbers. It’s what they do. It’s what they have always done and will continue to do.
Israel is certainly no less corrupt than your average South American dictatorship, but it likes its tourist economy, so it will preserve things like the Via Dolorosa and the Tomb of Christ, even if it doesn’t like YOU.
Muslims not only blow up objects of other religions’ veneration, such as centuries-old Buddhist Statues and millennia-old pre-Islamic idols in in what is now Iraq, they also blow up their own. They blew up the tomb thought to be Jonah’s, although he is accepted in Islam as the prophet Yunnus. Some wanted to blow up Mohammed’s tomb, as they thought devotion to him was a form of idolatry.
The Muslim Brotherhood wanted to blow up, or at least wax over, the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids. So much for whatever is left of Egypt’s tourist economy, which was quite healthy when H’wood was filming “The Ten Commandments” and James Bond movies on location with the full cooperation of the Egyptian government.
They don’t just go after religion. They go after history. They would not hesitate to blow up Sutton Hoo or Oseberg and then pretend they never existed. Allah forbid that any culture besides their own gain credit for its achievements!
THAT is the issue.
Philip Weiss has just chimed in on this blockbuster story with this piece on MW:
Hey Geo,
I think this is pure gold. The ultra-unapologetic-Zionists remind me a lot about the extremists in my community. Completely uncompromising, they make enemies out of everyone. Just like Daesh was recently crushed by Muslim armies, ultimately Jews that care about taking ethical positions will have to help rout out these monsters otherwise they will always use the Anti-Semitism bludgeon.
Peace.
I am somewhat sympathetic to Palestinians and not a defender of Israel.
But please, really, more than any people in the entire world, Palestinians have been given a TON of chances to get land and independence, and they have blown it every time. From 1948 to now.
People are sick of hearing about this issue.
Palestinians got Gaza, and they have blown it. It could have been a paradise but, no, they had to make war.
Palestinians want war. They don’t want an Israel. Fine, but don’t pretend otherwise. Make war if you wish but don’t ask for others’ help.
I do not care for Israel but that does not mean I think Palestinians are right.
This article is pure cult Marx. Deny reality. Israel really doesn’t exist. So why is Pilger so exercised? Israel persecution complex? Hey Pilger…you need to see a doctuh!
Keep in mind there was never such a thing as a “Palestinian” people until the twentieth century. The PLO came into existence in 1964. Whether or not one tends to agree with the OT, it does serve as historical record that Jews lived in the region known as Israel about 3,200 yrs ago. The Romans, after driving out the Jews from Judea and Samaria ca.135AD renamed the area Palestinia. For centuries, the term “Palestine” referred to the land region (formerly known as the kingdom of Israel, Judea/Samaria) and NOT any distinct ethnic peoples. Once Islam became predominant in the seventh century and conquered the region, Jews and Muslims lived side by side there. The main point is that in fact the Jews can lay title and claim to most of what is now Israel from a historical basis going back about 3,200 yrs. The word “Jews”, “Israel” are found throughout the OT/NT wheras an actual ethnic known as “Palestinians” did not exist at that time, nor did they exist until the twentieth century.
In that sense, the Jews are correct. They are Arabs; nothing more and nothing less. Even Jordan’s King Hussein made the point “There never was such a thing as Palestine” and that most Palestinians are ethnically Jordanian and Syrian (and many of these are ethnically related to Arabs today).
It is also interesting to note that many of the authors observations could easily be applied to Jordan. In 1970 King Hussein assassinated some 50-100,000 of his own subjects, the vast majority were Palestinians. Hussein’s dynasty is Hametic and goes vs. the majority of Jordanians, the vast amount are what would be by the author’s word “Palestinians.”
But of course he never holds Jordan to task for the ill treatment of its Palestinian subjects. Wonder why none of the other Arabic lands in the Middle East don’t offer to accept Palestinians as refugees? Rather than living in camps for generations, why don’t they simply immigrate to Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iran, etc? Why is this? Or are they being used to bash Israel over the head for its national policies?
Dont particularly care one way or the other about Israel, but why we should have to care about Arabs, Jordanians, and Syrians, when all three have distinct homelands (to which the “Palestinians” could immigrate at any time rather than living in camps) is asinine.
It’s not our fight and none of them are our peoples.
