Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the different levels of biological
organization
Performance Standard: The learners should be able to employ appropriate techniques using the compound
microscope to gather data about very small objects
Learning Competency: The learners should be able to… describe the different levels of biological
organization from cell to biosphere ---S7LT-IIc-3
I. Objective
At the end of the discussion, students will be able to:
a. identify the parts that make up an organism,
b. differentiate the function of each part
c. describe how these parts work together in an organism
III. Procedure
A. Motivation
Review the parts of a compound microscope.
1. What are the three main parts of a compound microscope?
2. What are the sub-parts of illuminating parts?
3.
B. Presentation
Show the class, pictures of a human being, plant and an animal.
Ask:
Human being, plant and animals are what?
Did you ask yourself, what makes me up?
C. Discussion
You are an organism just like the plants and animals. Your body has different level of
organization. Organ systems work together to help organisms meet their basic needs and to survive.
These are the circulatory system, digestive system, excretory system and the respiratory system. Each
system is made up of organs that have related functions and are grouped together.
Ask:
What do you think will happen if we will not take care any of these part?
How about people who are drug dependent? What will happen to their body?
IV. Assessment
Identify the following:
V. Assignment
Interview relatives or neighbors who have heart or kidney problems and ask them how these
diseases affect their life.
