Various types of currency including Imperial credits, coaxium, and Mandalorian currency
Currency, also referred to as money, or as dosh,[2] was used as a principal medium of exchange within a particular territory, and introduced into circulation by the appropriate regional authority on economic policy. Two main currencies existed in the galaxy: the Republic credit, which later became the Imperial credit before being replaced by the New Republic credit,[3] and the wupiupi, the latter circulating almost exclusively in the Outer Rim Territories.[4]
Several tertiary currencies also existed throughout the galaxy, such as the druggat,[5] the Calamari Flan,[6] Zukkels,[7] and the Batuuan Spira.[8]
Various commodities in certain sectors of space were utilized as a makeshift currency. A rare substance, the nova crystal, was bartered so frequently that it was considered a form of currency, especially considering its immense value.[9]
