ポール・サイモン御大、74歳の時のシングルです（ちなみにこれは6年半前の曲で、現在御大は81歳です）。

もうメロディやアレンジが最高にカッコよくて、聞いた瞬間に即購入しました。ヴァース1、2までは聞き取りやすくて意味も理解しやすくて、ユーモアのある歌詞で面白いなーと思ってたんです。

 

が、今回訳してみて、聞き取りにくかったヴァース3にこそ実はクソ重たいメッセージがあることを知りました。まさかの格差社会の歌でした。

そうか、リストバンドってそういうことなのか。生まれついた環境のどうしようもないことってあるよね。

ただのライブハウスの「ルールの遵守」を皮肉った歌なんだと思ってたよ。

 

そしてごめん、「ルールの遵守」を皮肉ったままで終わってほしかった。

 

個人的な好みではね！
