Ginghamphatts

Ginghamphatts is a semi-arachnid high-class Genma that makes an appearance in Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny. While he is officially the Genma's Chief Operations Manager, Ginghamphatts has built a brutal reputation during the human hunts, having killed more humans than even Fortinbras himself. He currently serves under the new Genma Lord Nobunaga Oda as he oversees the takeover of the Imasho Gold Mine.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny

Upon his rise as the new Genma Lord, Nobunaga Oda puts a plan in place to complete his conquest of Japan, launching an attack on the Yagyu Village due to their connection to the Oni clan. At the same time, he commissions Guildenstern to create a structure known as the Golden Evil Statue in order to incite total worship from all who witness it. Upon recieving the schematics and realizing that it will take over 6,000 tons of gold to complete, Guildenstern facilitates the takeover of the Imasho Gold Mine in order to enslave the human miners into acquiring the necessary gold, assigning Ginghamphatts to oversee the operation.

After awakening his Oni power and arriving at the town of Imasho, Jubei Yagyu soon enters the mine while pursuing a woman that holds one of the Five Oni Orbs and encounters Ginghamphatts. While the Genma is amused that a human believes himself to be strong enough to defeat him, he immediately attacks Jubei in response, but is soon defeated by the Oni warrior. Despite this defeat, Ginghamphatts warns Jubei that he will soon return before his body is dragged into a Genma portal, allowing Jubei to continue through the mine.

After the death of Takajo at the hands of Jujudormah, Jubei soon reaches the Foggy Forest and is intercepted by her, though before the two can do battle, a revived Ginghamphatts appears and demands that he be allowed to face Jubei first as he reveals that he is immortal. After a brief argument between himself and Jujudormah, the latter decides to concede and leaves, though laughs as she expects him to lose again anyway. Despite his confidence, Jujudormah is proven correct as Jubei emerges victorious once again, though Ginghamphatts again warns that he will return.

Once Jubei and Oyu crash the Oni Genbu into Gifu Castle and Jubei infiltrates the Genma structure, he is once again confronted by a resurrected Ginghamphatts who challenges him once again. Having implanted the Oni Orb of Strength into his hammer, Ginghamphatts' strength in battle only increases, though after being pushed back by Jubei, he manages to separate his upper body from his lower legs using his wings, forcing Jubei to fight outnumbered. Despite this advantage, Jubei manages to once again defeat Ginghamphatts, sending him plummeting into a burning pit that destroys his body completely and preventing his resurrection.

Trivia

  • Ginghamphatts is the only known Genma to be capable of reviving himself after death, though this ability seems to require his body to remain intact. Once his body is destroyed, he is left unable to revive himself.
  • Ginghamphatts is one of three bosses in the entire series that must be fought at least three separate times in a single playthrough, the other two being Jujudormah and Munenori Yagyu.
