Paint Drying

(i love it when letterboxd has a meltdown and keeps me from accessing it for however long it decides to🙃)

Welp, as of today, I have officially been a Letterboxd user for one whole year! It's been quite a year, hasn't it? I finally got to see Studio Ghibli's (mostly) masterful lineup of films, with one of them even becoming my favorite movie of all time. I got to see all the movies from Sony Animation, an animation studio that, while not perfect, far from it in fact, I still consider to be an amazing studio, one that, even after Spider-Verse changed its perception, I think deserves even more respect in the realm of animation. I also saw a lot of terrible movies, like the Direct-to-DVD Disney Sequels, the Disney Live-Action Remakes (with one certain remake being the worst piece of shit I've ever seen in my life), and I even watched most of Illumination's movies (I have yet to rewatch the Taron Eagerton monkey movies and the orange mustached Danny Devito movie). That was fun (no it wasn't).

I also watched the Blue Sky movies.

...

Anyways, with a full year of Letterboxd under my belt, I feel like I've grown so much more attached to the medium of film in 2022 than I ever had in 2021. I like doing these marathons and making funny reviews and lists that rank them all, and I intend to keep doing that for 2023 as well. So, here's a little roadmap I have as to what marathons I plan to do this year.

January Ghiblithon - To celebrate the first and best marathon I did last year, I plan to make it a yearly tradition to watch all of the Ghibli movies every January, outside of Grave of the Fireflies, not only because I don't want to make my parents pay money for a movie again, but also because I think it would be too soul-crushing to watch that movie again.

Finishing my Illumination Marathon - I've got only a couple of films left, so it probably won't take that long, I'm just waiting for The Lorax to leave the Cock Premium streaming service and go onto a platform that's more reliable.

One-month Disney Animation Marathon - I plan to redo my Disney Animation marathon, but the twist is that I watch all SIXTY-ONE of their movies in ONE SINGULAR MONTH. I probably do it in, like, July or smth, because I need the free time in order to do something monumental like that.

DreamWorks Marathon - I plan to watch every DreamWorks movie before 2023 ends. I know it might seem overboard to stretch one marathon throughout an entire year, but considering how DreamWorks has made over 40 movies, with a lot of them bouncing around different streaming services, it's gonna take a lot of waiting for some to actually be accessible.

Don Bluth Marathon - If you couldn't tell by my absolutely goated "Pebble and the Penguin" review, I've been gaining an interest in Don Bluth's movies, and I plan to watch them all. I've heard he can either make really good stuff or really bad stuff, so it's gonna be an interesting journey to say the least.

Finishing the Laika marathon - I already checked out Coraline, Paranorman, and Boxtrolls in 2022, and I plan to watch Corpse Bride, Kubo, and Missing Link this year. Not much else to say.

Maybe I'll also do a Warner Animation marathon or redo my Pixar marathon as well, who knows?

Um, yeah, that's all I've got planned in terms of marathons. As for other stuff I plan to do this year, I actually got a drawing tablet recently, which means I can make digital art without having to use a shitty laptop mouse. As for what I'll do with it, I actually have an idea for a possible webcomic that might come into fruition. I'll need to get better at using my drawing tablet, and it might take a while before it becomes a full thing, but someday, I want it to be a reality. The story is called "Willow the Robot," and it's about this robot named Willow (i know, you probably couldn't guess that from the title) and her three friends, Ann-E, Erikka, and Pyra-Bot. They live in a world of robots, and just have fun together idk. My procrastinating ass might make me not want to work on it, but damnit, I want to make it happen.

Welp, that's all I've got. Happy late New Year's, let's hope that 2023 is a little more bearable than 2022. :)

(also go play Celeste, I got it for Christmas, and it's so amazing omggg)
