I'm kind of an outlier, not a big fan of the original Strangers, am a big fan of it's sequel. I liked this more than the original, not nearly as much as Prey at Night.
The two leads struggle mightly during the opening lovey dovey everything is awesome early moments of the film but are far more convincing once the strangers show up forcing them into a tense fight for their lives. Yeah it's pretty much just a remake of 08 but I personally felt like this had a better, faster pace.
Unfortunately it ends in an unsatisfying, unremarkable way. Even the mid credit scene doesn't help.
They did film 3 of these at the same time. I'm pretty sure part two is meant to come out later this year. While part one didn't exactly get me excited for it, it has made me curious, I'll watch it, which I suppose means this did it's job.
But probably gonna need to see all three, Renny Harlin's complete vision before I render final judgment.
