How's this movie from the same director who brought us Cliffhanger, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Die Hard 2?? Heck, Cutthroat Island and Mind Hunters had more verve and originality than this (they say it's not, but it is) remake honk shoo 'fest.
Any shades they try to force into the mythos take away from whatever spooky mystery this ratty IP once possessed (and it was threadbare, to begin with), and I never felt real tension for our two main CW protagonists because they aren't real characters, they're script notes. Placeholders of nada, kinda like this movie.
I'm morbidly curious to see how they'll unravel this as a trilogy, as the makers of these seem frightened, terrified even, of moving forward. Prove me wrong, surprise the audience, make it thrilling - 'cause RennyH. and co. - ya’ did the opposite of that here.
