Not really sure what I was expecting but I was pretty shocked at how excellent this was. It’s got fantastic visuals and fantastic writing, and the two go hand in hand in this film with so many scenes in which the conversation and the shot correlate. Truly difficult to explain the greatness of this movie just one that needs to be seen to be appreciated.

Truly inspiring to see a film do so much with so little. A shoestring budget and virtually unknown actors creates a mysterious atmosphere and gives us some truly real acting, creating the most important film in African History. Also that goddamn ending was perfection.

Slightly blown away at how good this movie is. Both the leads were electric, the dance numbers and songs were fucking sick, and the vibrant atmosphere around this film was apparent and necessary. Not the best from a directorial standpoint but that’s not a huge deal thanks to the immersion of Oz itself. Unexpected banger, don’t be surprised if it smashes come award season.

It’s unreal how fucking amazing this movie is. Literally everything about this movie is exceptional and I will not be convinced otherwise.

I knew that this movie was great, but now I truly understand everything that everyone says about this movie because it’s revolutionary. I’m a sucker for visuals, who isn’t, and holy shit my eyes were feasting nonstop. The incredible desert atmosphere made the journey look almost infinite with no end in sight. Pair all that with so many incredible wide shots and close ups and you have this technical marvel. The long run time is up for debate on whether it should really be this long, but honestly it comforts me in a way because it gives me time to immerse myself in this world and the epic scope of it all. Peter O’toole bodied this role and commands your attention whenever he’s on screen and I have no idea how Gregory Peck beat him for that Oscar, I mean To Kill A Mockingbird was good but damn. I have so much to say about this movie but I honestly don’t feeling like writing it all so all I’ll say is that this movie is absolutely worthy of all the praise and admiration it gets it’s truly incredible.
