Fuck it 5 stars. Watching with Manny’s roommate’s surround sound + subwoofer setup was simply incredible. A very memorable sonic moment happens in Kiki’s delivery service when Tombo falls from the rope dangling from the blimp and Kiki flies down to catch him and the music and sound effects all go silent. There’s a prolonged moment when a Disney movie would have had an orchestral swell but the film just leaves you in the breathless absence of sound and it makes the moment transcendent. Every moment from beginning to end is good
This is one of the main movies I’ve refrained from watching until I can see it on a big screen and finally Clinton St played it! After seeing Young Girls of Rochefort there yesterday this may be my first back to back 5 star moviegoing experience
