Imelda Reyes (b. 1874/1875) was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 19th century.[5] Descended from a family of Quidditch players, she herself was a talented flier and Captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team in her days at Hogwarts.[4]
Biography[]
Early life[]
She grew up in a wizarding family that liked flying. Her grandfather played for Puddlemere United and her father played chaser on the Slytherin Quidditch team.[4] Upon her arrival at Hogwarts, she too was sorted into Slytherin and was later made Quidditch Captain for the Slytherin Quidditch team.[4] She was in her fifth year during the 1890–1891 school year.[6]
Fifth year[]
On 2 September 1890, Imelda greeted new Slytherins in the Slytherin common room and gave unwelcome advice on Wizard's Chess to an unidentified housemate. She also bragged about her broomstick flying abilities.[5]
She, alongside Everett Clopton and Astoria Crickett, stole Gobstones from Zenobia Noke and hid them in high places in Hogwarts Castle.[7] Due to her flying skills, she was the favourite of the Flying Instructor, Chiyo Kogawa,[8] and had a healthy relationship with Albie Weekes, the proprietor of Spintwitches Sporting Needs.[9]
Magical abilities and skills[]
- Flying: Imelda was recognised as a talented broomstick flyer both by Chiyo Kogawa and Albie Weekes,[8][9] and became Captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team at some point prior to her fifth year.[4]
- Wizard's Chess: Though she did not enjoy the game, considering it "too sedate", Imelda regardless had an intuitive ability for Wizard's Chess, declaring that the moves were obvious and she was confused why nobody else could see them.[5]
Etymology[]
"Imelda" is a Spanish/Italian female given name.
"Reyes" is a Spanish surname from "rey", Spanish for "king".
Behind the scenes[]
- Imelda is voiced by Scottish voice actress Lauren Grace in Hogwarts Legacy.[10]
- Although her accent is Scottish, Imelda's name is of Spanish origin, implying Imelda is of Spanish or Latin American descent.
