Muscle Sprouts are a resource found in the Pond Lab dome and in some chests in the Black Anthill Lab. It can be eaten as a snack, however it will also damage the player when consumed.
They are only used as a base for Beefy Smoothies; applying more healing when consumed.
Once harvested, Muscle Sprouts take 5 in-game days to respawn.
They can be grown in a Garden Patch, but take a long time and only produce two Muscle Sprouts per one planted. This can be doubled by causing a mutation using Rotten Food, but then require a Insect Axe to harvest.
Trivia[]
Muscle Sprouts seem to be a mutation caused by being exposed to Raw Science, being made the same way as the Haze Fungus.
They are an artificially grown hybrid of human muscles and brussels sprouts.
The Muscle Sprouts are likely inspired by Tissue Recellularization. A process which one can extract the living cells of one organism, and replace them with another. With the most common being a plant with animal cells.
