All-Devouring Narwhal is a Weekly Boss challenge found in Shadow of Another World.

Rules[]

  • Trounce Domains contain unusually powerful opponents. After successfully completing the challenge, you can obtain abundant rewards.
  • Players can complete this domain as many times as they want, but can only collect rewards once per week by using 30 Original Resin to open the Ley Line Blossom for the first three Weekly Bosses, and 60 Original Resin subsequently. Rewards are refreshed with Weekly World Reset.

Ley Line Disorder[]

  • Dealing DMG to the All-Devouring Narwhal and destroying the Eye of the Maelstrom it creates can draw its hostility. Once this builds to its limit, the creature will devour the character, causing them to enter the belly of the beast. Defeating the dark shadow within the belly will deal significant DMG to the Narwhal and cause it to fall into a weakened state. Pneuma or Ousia attacks can quickly destroy the whirlpool, and can also interrupt the shadow's attacks. When the health of the All-Devouring Narwhal is relatively low, it will no longer devour characters.

Rewards[]

Claiming the Trounce Blossom for Original Resin Original Resin ×60 (or 30 for the first 3 Weekly Boss claims of the week) after defeating the boss offers the following possible rewards:

All-Devouring Narwhal[]

Leap
Leaps out of the ground and slams down towards the player, dealing 100% ATK as Hydro DMG. Cracks form on the ground around the impact area, transforming into a splash after a delay, dealing 50% ATK as Hydro DMG. It may continue to swim forward then dive back into the ground, dealing 100% ATK as Hydro DMG and causing another wave of cracks to form and explode.
Penetrate
Cracks form on the ground below the player. The narwhal then penetrates through the ground, dealing 100% ATK as Hydro DMG. Several splashes then occur around the impacted area, each dealing 50% ATK as Hydro DMG.
Dive

Eye of Maelstrom

Ravaging Devourer
The narwhal starts the fight with an empty Fury bar:
  • For the first 80 seconds of the fight, it accumulates 1 point of Fury per second.
  • After 80 seconds, it will accumulate 2 points of Fury per second.
  • Each time it takes DMG, it will accumulate 1 point of Fury for every 1% Max HP lost.
  • When the Eye of Maelstrom is destroyed, it accumulates 30 points of Fury.
  • After the narwhal accumulates 120 points of Fury, it will devour the player, causing them to enter its belly and engage in battle with the Dark Shadow.
    • Defeating the Dark Shadow will cause the narwhal to lose 20% of its Max HP and paralyze it. All party members will also gain maximum Energy.
    • If the player is devoured multiple times, the Dark Shadow will start with half HP from the second time onward.
    • Once the narwhal's HP drops below 20% of its Max HP, it will no longer devour the player.

Dark Shadow[]

  • Summons 2 Geovishaps that consecutively leap and slam down at the player, each dealing 100% ATK as Pyro DMG.
  • Summons 4 Consecrated Fanged Beasts at the corners of the arena. The beasts will roll towards the player, dealing 50% ATK as Electro DMG on hit.
  • Summons 4 Hat Jellyfish at the corners of the arena. Each jellyfish will fire a bubble at the player, dealing 50% ATK as Hydro DMG on hit.

Descriptions[]

A mysterious and gargantuan creature from another world.

A mysterious and gargantuan creature from another world.
Poets often liken the starry sky to the ocean. They've seen or dreamt of countless bioluminescent plankton floating on a moonless sea, resembling a galaxy, or the moonlight ripped apart by waves on the sea's surface, like shimmering stars. In the most fantastical stories or outrageous lies, the stars found in the depths of the cosmos might be teeming with life, much like Teyvat, and the universe itself is akin to an ocean. Realistically speaking, however, if a profound universe full of life exists, why hasn't any of that life made contact with Teyvat?
Maybe the universe has been constantly trying to infiltrate Teyvat, or maybe a higher power created borders to protect this world.

Lore[]

The All-Devouring Narwhal is a "whale" that does not belong to Teyvat,[1] and the pet of Skirk's master, Surtalogi.[2] When Childe fell into the Abyss at the age of 14, he encountered the whale and "awakened" it. This encounter inspired him to incorporate the shape of a whale into his combat moveset.[3] At an unknown point in time, the All-Devouring Narwhal came to Teyvat and started consuming energy from the Primordial Sea, causing the sea levels around Fontaine to rise. Surtalogi may have intentionally brought it to Teyvat to feed on Primordial Seawater;[4] however, a more likely possibility is that it followed Childe back to Teyvat after being awakened by him.[5]

Attracted to the "blood" of Fontainians, the whale broke into the Opera Epiclese during Furina's trial, but was fended off by Childe in his Foul Legacy Transformation, who had been fighting it for a long time — ever since he entered the Primordial Sea upon his escape from the Fortress of Meropide.[1] It is implied that the Oratrice falsely sentenced Childe[6] because Focalors knew he would escape Meropide and delay the whale.[7] Neuvillette and the Traveler followed the whale back into the Primordial Sea and managed to defeat it, though its prior consumption of energy, plus the power it expended during the battle, caused an upheaval on the surface and triggered the prophesied flooding of Fontaine. Skirk arrived shortly after its defeat, compressing it into a small orb before throwing it into another rift. She revealed that she had intended to deal with it herself until it began fighting her disciple.[2]

According to Skirk, the All-Devouring Narwhal is uncooperative, eats too much, and overall fails as a pet.[2]
