Aureole魂の眠る地 (オレオール) Oreōru?, also referred to as The Land Where Souls Rest魂の眠る地 Tamashī no nemuru chi? or Heaven, is a gathering location for souls. It is located in the northernmost end of the continent, Ende, where the Demon King's Castle is also based.

Overview[]

Located in the Northern Lands, Aureole is a place humans refer to as "heaven"; a place where one could meet with the souls of the dead. Recorded in the notes of Flamme, Aureole is where Flamme visited and spoke with her old comrades. Upon reading Flamme's notes of this encounter, traveling north to Aureole and reuniting with Himmel became Frieren's goal for her new journey.

Due to Aureole being considered as the heaven of the world, it is presumed that the Goddess of Creation resides there.[1]

History[]

At some point in her life, Flamme journeyed to Aureole and spoke with her former comrades. She documented the encounter in her notes for Frieren to refer to a thousand years in the future, guarding the notes with a long-lasting protection spell.

Synopsis[]

After Himmel's death, Heiter and Eisen correspond over mail, and Heiter discovers the location of a real and existing record of Flamme's notes that includes details of her being able to communicate with the dead.

Flamme's prior visit to Aureole.

Frieren and Fern visit Eisen to provide any assistance for him, and he requests their aid in looking for the Great Mage Flamme's notes in the Voll Basin. During their search, Eisen explains that he felt pity for Frieren over her regret surrounding not getting to know Himmel more, and their quest to find the notes was to help her directly express to Himmel her thoughts. The group manages to locate a giant tree covering ruins, and Frieren removes the protective barrier that surrounds it. Inside, they find the notes, and the book opens up to the page detailing Flamme's visit to Aureole, where she described her meeting with the souls of her old comrades. With persuasion from Eisen, Frieren decides to make Aureole her destination for the possibility of speaking with Himmel once again.[2]

During their travels through the Northern Lands, Frieren and her party encounters Kraft, an Elf with strong faith in the Goddess of Creation. When Frieren tells him about their intended journey to Aureole, Kraft mentions his wish to be praised by the Goddess in heaven when he passes.[3]
