In The Small Room, Part 4 ( (せま)キ部屋ニテ 其の肆, Semaki Heya nite, Sono Shi?) is the 108th chapter of the Bungo Stray Dogs manga.

Synopsis[]

Sigma confronts Dostoyevsky and Atsushi battles Akutagawa once more, but time is running out if they want to stop the Decay of the Angel’s plan…![1]

Summary[]

Dostoevsky's breakdown (manga)

Dostoevsky's breakdown upon seeing the note.

Sigma questions Dostoevsky on the note asking for help written in Russian, which causes Dostoevksy to frantically call out for help, much to Sigma's confusion. Meanwhile, in their raging battle, Atsushi struggles to snap Akutagawa back to his senses, believing that, because he uncharacteristically spared Aya's life when he confronted Bram, he still subconsciously upholds their promise not to kill anyone within six months.

Atsushi hesitates to attack Akutagawa (manga)

Atsushi hesitates to attack Akutagawa with a frontal hit.

Atsushi catches and traps Akutagawa's attack with his tiger-enhanced abilities, but he decides not to push through with a frontal attack on Akutagawa upon noticing that he has not been using Rashōmon for defense and is thus likely not to survive the punch. This leads Akutagawa to ensnare him in turn, wrapping Atsushi's left arm and right leg with his coat.

Dostoevsky after his breakdown (manga)

Dostoevsky's "other" identity surfaces.

As Dostoevsky seemingly recovers from his breakdown, he appears different and asks for the year, further confusing Sigma. Atsushi then attempts to make Akutagawa remember that Dazai perceives true strength as fighting oneself over fighting others, which momentarily appears to return Akutagawa's sentience, albeit instantly reverting back to his vampiric state and slicing off Atsushi's Rashōmon-wrapped arm and leg.

Dostoevsky stabs Sigma (manga)

Dostoevsky stabs Sigma, tricking him with his other-identity feint.

The seemingly new Dostoevsky asks Sigma to stop his other wicked identity with the Sword Kladenets. He hands Sigma the blade and apologizes for his other demonic identity, which Sigma thinks must be connected to Dostoevsky's ability. However, revealing it as a feint, Fyodor stabs Sigma with the blade, which is actually an ordinary knife, and successfully incapacitates him. Dostoevsky warns Sigma that he will continue being his enemy even if he becomes an Agency member, being an opponent of the Agency itself. Dostoevsky then offers to have Sigma touch and use his ability on him if he so dares.

At the airport where Fukuzawa lays bleeding unconsciously, Fukuchi receives the United Nations chairman's begrudging approval to disclose how to unseal One Order. As Fukuchi acknowledges, Aya and Bram witness the bright light emanating from the now-opened One Order in Fukuchi's hands, which Bram notes shall spell the world's destruction in a few more seconds.
