The Silver Oracle (銀の託宣, Gin no Takusen?) is a document of a delegation of authority of the Port Mafia.
Description[]
It is a silver leaf-inlaid Echizen paper and whoever possesses it is granted authority equal to the boss of Port Mafia. It may be shown to anyone below the ranks of and including the five executives and give them orders, to which they cannot decline. Declining is tantamount to betraying the Mafia and is punishable by death.[1]
During Ōgai Mori's time as Mafia boss, the Silver Oracle is usually written with the following text:
Nihil admirari—help the man mentioned above without hesitation in the face of any and all trials.
Ōgai[1]
Background[]
Fifteen Arc[]
Mori handed a Silver Oracle to 15-year-old Osamu Dazai to help him in a preliminary investigation about the alleged reappearance of Mori's recently-deceased predecessor whom he killed. Despite not yet being part of the Mafia, Dazai was able to enlist the help of veteran mafioso Ryūrō Hirotsu in asking around Suribachi City and in getting Mafia sub-executive Randō to cooperate in the investigation about rumors surrounding Arahabaki.[3]
Dark Era Arc[]
It was given by Mori to Sakunosuke Oda to help him investigate the sudden disappearance of Mafia intelligence officer Ango Sakaguchi. Oda later used it to seek aid from Mafia executive Dazai while chasing down a Mimic sniper. As a result, Dazai gathered his men and blockaded the roads to corner the sniper.[1]
