Mary Washington (Democratic Party) is a member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 43. She assumed office on January 9, 2019. Her current term ends on January 13, 2027.

Washington (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Maryland State Senate to represent District 43. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Washington is a former Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 43 from 2011 to 2019.

Biography

Mary Washington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She earned a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1997. Washington's career experience includes teaching sociology at Lehigh University.[1]

The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Incumbents Curt Anderson, Maggie McIntosh and Mary Washington defeated Timothy Vance in the Democratic primary. Anderson, McIntosh and Washington defeated Greg A. Dorsey for three seats in the general election.[2][3][4]
